    transom rot

had a friend who bought a Sea Ray Amberjack which upon being surveyed found a spot between the two outdrives that was bad. A professional boat place cut out the piece and rebuilt it, boat is good to go. From your description, maybe the metal surround of the drain was bad and hopefully it is just a limited area and not the whole thing.
  2. pictures added of the bow area with the flooring removed.

    Livewell

Princecraft is a Canadian boat company and was one of the last that OMC or Brunswick bought when they were buying up builders in the 1990's. I would place them quality wise at the level of a Lund or a Crestliner so any livewell system should be the equal of those. It seems they are making a push to sign dealers as I know they have added one in the Western Southern Tier of NY this past fall.
  4. Get the boat ready like you would for a trip in the middle of summer, it does not need to be summerized.
  5. bump up for new price.
  6. In my opinion, they were top shelf boats. They are also welded which will be debated but I think there is an advantage to that. Stopped makign them in 2003. There are a few for sale this spring in Western NY, so if you need to look for one, send me a PM, one is down the street from where I work.
  7. It is too bad the manufacturers and the buying public have left small pickups to die in the market. The Ranger has been around since 1983, just updated. Ford refuses to bring the one they just launched in the rest of the world over here. GM is said to be bringing the new Canyon/Colorado which looks good from the pictures I have seen. Not everyone needs a full size rig to accomplish their tasks.
  8. I say there is a difference between being stupid and then being derby stupid. Derby stupid is taking unnecessary risks because a derby is going on. This should serve as a reminder to all of us to keep an eye on the weather and to save it for another day when the conditions are questionable. Life is too short.
  9. SOLD 6/11/11 Pictures coming. 20 inch shaft perfect for kicker use or someone who has small sailboat. Low hours, was gone through by local marina last spring, used for 1/2 hour since. Low hours, asking $350.00 or best offer. Located in Dunkirk NY.
  10. Buyer backed out/price reduced SOLD 5/24/11 1999 Yamaha 50 hp long shaft 2 stroke PT/T. Motor sat inside for 5 years. Just had it taken to the local marina to have it gone through, new impeller, plugs, lower unit refill etc. I doubt it has more than 100 hours. Reason for sale is purchase of larger motor. Mounted on boat so you can hear run. Comes with controls $2200.00 or best offer. Located in Dunkirk NY.
  11. So what is the new truck?
  12. I will get some put up. The floor is solid, the bow piece could be replaced, I have the old one as a pattern in tact.
  13. Friday 5/6-Sun5/8 Perch in about 8 ft of water seems like just about everywhere, Long Point area, Dewittville Bay area, in front of the dock area at Chautauqua Inst. Might be shaping up the week to hit it with a good looking weather forecast. Four guys boating hundreds of fish, not all keeping size but certainly enough to keep. We were using worms, others were using minnows. Saw some good baskets of calicos being hauled in as well.

    Tow vehicle?

Cummins has been in Dodge pick-ups since the late 80's-early 90's-even survived the ownership by Daimler so it is proven in the field.
  15. to answer a question on motor-it takes the 20 inch long shaft-there have been several out there in the $3-4 range of recent vintage. I know where there is a 1995 90 Evinrude for 2500.00 and there have been a few other motors in that price range. Nothing has really changed in 35 years, when a motor appears that you need, you need to make that move. Boat rated for 150hp, a 90-115 would work fine.
  16. Same owner, place was closed from November to a couple weeks ago. I believe they are adding some type of outdoor deck/patio as well.
  17. just got rid of a 17 starcraft that I used a Minn-kota edge bow mount 55 lb thrust which moved the boat easily and saved the expense/weight of the second battery.
  18. 5/1/11 At this point there have only been two to look at the boat. I will do the follow up with the others that have expressed interest. The boat is still for sale and while waiting for the days to pass on the title, I have disassembled the floor work in the bow to allow inside visual inspection of the hull. This allows inspection of the floor material to get a better idea of what you are getting into if you buy it.
  19. No titles are required in NYS for outboards.
  20. PM's sent to above two posts.

    Tow vehicle?

Until we get to the point of new engines across the board(I know Ford has done it this year besides the Ecoboost) you are not going to experience any dramatic increase in fuel economy. So far my own experience driving unload full size pick-ups or SUV's on the highway has been at best 16 mpg. And while towing you may pick up an extra mile or two but it will not offset the new payment book. So you buy or drive what you got in the driveway or the used car lot. As some posters above have said outside of the unproven Ecoboost-we are a couple years away from real improvement.
  22. width is close to 8 ft, not as wide as the new ones which are over 8 ft.
  23. I will keep that information in mind, hopefully things come to a conclusion this week.
