  1. this appeared in Craigslist the past few days; http://ithaca.craigslist.org/boa/2502928063.html
  2. The topic of low speed wander has come up since Jim Wynne designed the deep vee hull. Almost every boat test conducted by Trailer Boats magazine in the 1970's brought that topic up.
  3. One of the signs of a failing starter is that it takes more juice and effort to get it to spin.
  4. fish seem to be scattered-we had success on the 4th in 85 feet of water-most of our fish coming straight out of dunkirk to west about in the area of Shorewood Country Club. There was a pack of boats off the breaks in the Van Buren point area with limited success.
  5. Someone may correct me but even if you are an average boater who has taken a safety course or a power squadron course, you still have to take the PWC course.
  6. My boat was not on Oneida Lake.
  7. Finally almost complete and headed to the launch. 1956 Crestliner, 1988 Evinrude 20hp
  8. I am finding out the hard way, not that it is a surprise to me but I am having the transom re-done now on a boat over 20 years old.
  9. Sold 6/25/11 EZ loader trailer 1375 lb capacity-new tires 4/11-bearings good lights work-fits 15-17 ft boat(might go to 18) had 16 starcraft on it. Excellent condition. $475.00 or best offer. Trailer located in Dunkirk NY. Needs to be registered as a homemade.
  10. bump to now include motor and reduce package price
  11. price adjustment 6/8 to $1495.00-I have used the boat the past two weekends boat works fine. For someone who has a motor sitting, it is an inexpensive way to get on the water-boat can be towed by just about anything. Or buy the 40 hp that I have on it.
  12. Unfortunately in the mid 80's these Bayliners were underpowered. To expect a 125 hp 4 cylinder motor to push a boat a boat weighing close to 4000 pounds when new is expecting a lot. Given the years, it is likely the boat weighs more due to soaked floatation etc. I would start with the prop but a prop change is not going to gain it 10 mph. RPM's seem in the right neighborhood.
  13. You may also want to look at the American Angler series by Smokercraft-similar in style-not sure how many dealers carry those in the east either.
  14. The boat should be surveyed. On a 20 year old boat it can be in the best looking shape and a good survey will get below the surface and investigate both the stringers and the transom.
  15. I had the starcraft project boat that was on here, pulled some of the foam from the bow-very heavy. If your 85 has not had any floor work done on it in the past, it is likely that the foam is soaking wet and very heavy.
  16. Price reduction to $700.00 on 9/8/11. SOLD ON 9/21/11 Roadrunner tandem axle boat trailer will take up to a 24 ft boat. Four brand new tires 4/11. Brought it back 110 miles so bearings are good. Would need new winch. Axle rating of 1800 per axle so trailer rating close to 3800 pounds.. Center keel rollers with wood bunks. $700.00 or best offer boat sold so more pictures will be coming. Located in Dunkirk NY. No registration-has to be registered as homemade.
  17. used it for fishing this weekend-boat and trailer work fine. bumped to the top.
  18. Blown fuse-I knew there was one there somewhere just didn't know where to look. Thanks Hank.
