The 150 force was created after Bayliner bought out Chrysler and created US marine. When Brunswick bought out Bayliner and the rest of the boat companies they got Force and did some upgrades to the motors that were the most feasible. They did not want to put a lot of money into 1970's technology especially as the EPA mandates were coming and 2 strokes were going to be phased out. If it works good run it but at some point you will need to re-power due to parts availability etc. 26-30 will be your speed range.

Mr. Cuomo is talking the talk, he will need to start walking it in January with or without Sheldon Silver or the new leader of the Senate. Gov Paterson couldn't get anywhere and the whole just got deeper and deeper. They need to roll back medicaid to the level of the other states, that would be a huge step.

The real purse strings are controlled by the clowns we send back to Albany every two years in the Assembly and State Senate. If you want to see the poster child for everything wrong, his name is Antione Thompson, a State Senator who got re-elected by 250 votes in Buffalo. The man is probably the worst elected official in the country, yet enough people voted for him. We have only ourselves to blame. They don't understand what cuts mean and they pander to the welfare class.

I have stored electric riggers in a boat in the past over the winter in cold Western NY with no problems. Basically it is an electric motor like electric motors in various applications in unheated warehouses and the like.

Draining everything works in concept unless you happen to forget one or have an elbow that didn't drain. When I owned an I/O, I wanted it done right by someone competent and would stand behind it rather than save a few dollars. Which is why my current boat is an outboard that I can easily winterize myself and not worry about it.

The last six months has proved that even a lame duck governor can't get things done which then turns the focus to our incompetent legislators who do not have the political will to get things done. Even a simple reduction of 10% in medicaid would help with the budget issues. And legislators listening to a segment of the population that is a drain to resources makes no sense. I am tired of both sides finger pointing and name calling and blaming, we need some candidates who are actual statesman or women. Cuomo carries too much political baggage and Paladino carries too much personal baggage and neither has addressed any of the issues.

A word to the wise, if you are not mechanical or you are not confident in interpreting advice given to you, spend the money and have it done right. The want ads are loaded every spring with boats with cracked blocks etc, because someone thought they were a mechanic.

the trim gauge is not necessary-it can easily be accomplished by the boat operator being aware of what is going on. My outboard boat did not even come with one from the factory.

price reduced on 9/30/10 to $495.00

I had the old Sylvan Offshore 22 and ran that for 8 years, hull was a little shallower but I would guess it weighed in the same range as the 19 Islander. Also had the 3 liter.. On a good day it might have gotten 32 mph wide open so you are not that far off. Out of curiosity I would check that foam to see if it is in fact soaked which I would doubt on a 5 year old boat....Having had my first boat now with the fin, I would try that and you might pick up and extra mile or two on the top end. I believe you are close to the end in terms of top end range, that boat is not going to do 35 mph.

boat trailer for 26ft. sea ray
MCF replied to bulldog63's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I would start looking on Craigslist, based on where you are located there are some trailers out there both new and used. -
SOLD pending payment of balance 10/2/10 14 Lowe Line, very heavy construction. Needs minor transom repair, have materials to make easy fix. Well constructed homemade trailer-needs new winch and bow stop-which I have and will hand to the new owner-Will eventually need new coupler. $550.00 or best offer-located in Dunkirk, NY which is west of Buffalo. Selling because I just purchased a project boat.

I owned a 22 sylvan for 8 years, I have fished out of the Islander as well and currently own a smaller Starcraft. I would rate the Crestliner and Lund ahead of the Starcraft and Sylvan simply because they are a heavier aluminum boat and that translates into a better ride. There are also some 22 Sea Nymphs and 22 Princecrafts out there as well. If you are looking for a used boat, this is the year to do it. Lots of boats for sale.

What the DEC is up to behind the scenes!
MCF replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Open Lake Discussion
With the second latest state budget passed this week and nobody being happy about it, and the fiasco that occurred in the State Senate last year and also another bloated budget, all of our Assembly reps and State Senators are up for election this fall. It is up to us to do our homework and find out who is running to represent us. Not every rep is bad, we just need new faces in office that can listen to us. A bloated medicaid program should have been cut to at least get it in line with our neighboring states and would free up money to get to the programs we are interested in. Do you research and make sure YOU VOTE IN NOVEMBER. -
Fished this tournament this weekend as well. Walleyes starting in 70 feet and out starting straight out of Dunkirk Harbor and west. Mixed in were brown trout, steelhead and we boated a 12 lb laker. Steady action, no where near the level of the late 80's on Lake Erie but it is good to see the mixed bag. Lots of small walleye out there as well, so there holds great promise for the next couple years.

You need to add gear etc as an additional weight and some extra pounds if it is a cuddy or what engine it has in it so I would use 3500 lbs as a working number.

Albemarle at Arneys Marina Boston Whaler at Surf-n-Turf Erie. you might also want to check Happy Days in Ohio for all of the high line boats you mentioned.

The 470 was Mercruisers response in the mid 70's to the thought that they were not going to have access to automotive engine blocks in the future. It also appeared as the 485. Had the closed cooling to prevent issues from the mix of different alloys when used in salt water. The above post is correct, because it was a Mercruiser design some parts are only available through Mercruiser and as the years go on, parts become less available.

I would take a roller trailer over a bunk trailer any time, wouldn't matter what size the boat is-unless you are launching every day at a decent boat ramp.
-
I would agree that it sounds like a prop hub issue.
-
The standard transom height for years on most aluminum boats in the 17-19 range has been 20 inches. And there are many Lunds in service across the Great Lakes and some 17's with 150 hp on it. As long as there is some type of splash well, this should not be a problem.
-
By the late 80's the marine division of Chrysler has a shell of what it was in the 70's, boat line gone, Chrysler outboards sold to Bayliner/US Marine and not really active in the inboard market if at all.

I regularly fish on a 23 Grady Gulfstream(the wide body model) with a covered t-top and a 9.9 Mariner 4 stroke pushes it around Lake Erie with no problem so while a high thrust would be nice, it is not necessary.
