  1. You Sir are a great talent. Still laughing. Your higher deductible might not apply to an act of the deer Gods unless you choose $1,000 for comprehensive coverage as well as collision coverage deduction.
  2. Love it, but you missed one.. The frugal but fishy Bayliner Trophy comes in many "Reel" names. There's a nice one in the background of the previous "reel" pic.
  3. Proud to say I imported the yarn fly version of the pink worm to Erie tribs in the 1990's from the Olympic Peninsula where it was born. People stopped laughing pretty quick.
  4. Maybe we all suck and have grandiose delusions of our deep-water fishing prowess. Thank you all for the great information...I'm leaning towards weird weather and fish patterns instead of collosal fish population problem.
  5. Get a backpack for toddlers with storage underneath. My kids rode on my back for river steelies and muskies from age 1-3. The extra exercise offsets part of the daddy belly. And a quiet house makes mommy happy while you get to go fishing with your mini me.
  6. Well that's good news for the stocking program...is the hatchery count a good indicator of the total return numbers? Seems like you could fill a room but not the building if my metaphor isn''t in left field at this hour.
  7. I have not found an on-line source for 2014 return numbers on the Salmon River. I am very curious given the summer King fishery. Anyone up there have some local info? It's difficult to gauge from Cleveland. Thanks!
  8. Great info guys...Tim's data is quite persuasive and my small sample of kings this summer was all stocked fish. Dr. Chris I suffered a random complete aortic dissection last year and the first docs missed it...thanks for keeping that diagnosis front and center in your differential, it's a killer that gets missed too often.
  9. I think the cone of sound from the ducer is large enough at that depth to rule out the position of the ducer on the transom as a factor. Check the voltage on the dour rigger line, perhaps you have excess voltage running down the wire. Did you switch lures between riggers?
  10. Thanks for your input 580, Frank's prices are reasonable so think I'll try both sizes to see what works best.
  11. I forgot about Frank's Amish Outfitters stuff, I use his planer board snubbers. Thanks for the reminder. Anyone else use these things?
  12. I'm curious to hear any feedback on downrigger snubbers. I just dropped a Shark when a probe safety line came apart in rough water. I'd like to avoid that expense and even out the pressure put on the booms/gunnels, if they work. Anyone have some input on them? Looks like Scotty is about the only product on the market? Thanks! Jarrett
  13. So sorry that happened to you. Scumbags. I deal with insurance companies everyday...don't let the hurdles and b.s. deter you from making a strong claim. The company would prefer if you went away rather than read your policy rights. Keep at them, present detailed documentation, an itemization, pictures if available and affidavits from yourself and dis-interested persons who can verify what you possessed. Also, all of us should be aware of the difference between AGREED VALUE and ACTUAL CASH VALUE in a policy. Huge difference. Actual Cash Value will not give you protection to cover replacement costs. Only what the insurance company says it's worth. Shop for an Agreed Value policy. If it goes bye bye, the value is set. Especially important for larger losses such as boat, motor, kicker, etc. Good luck. Don't let your insurer off the hook so easy.
  14. There was a great article in In Fisherman years ago on jigging Lake Michigan kings...if you can find it you would find it helpful.
  15. Fished hard from Wilson, targeting kings with a little brown trout trolling to bend some rods. Weather was too nice, only blown off a few hours. Fished from the Bar to Somerset, 50 fow to 476. Took a 25, 24, 18, 15 and a 9 lb king. A few jacks and a bunch of shakers too. All males, all on various flasher flies/sushi flies with greens and silver producing consistently. Spoon bite was not there for me, only picked up steelies and browns on spoons. Caught a few of each, and a laker. 180 fow to 227 fow was the King zone for us. And believe me you we tried all depths. Reports in port were dour, mainly small kings and steel so we felt lucky with our limited number of matures. Wilson harbor is always a great place to dock for us, real comfy for my aging bones. A pic of my "deck boss" with a nice one:
  16. Slow, took a jack in 229 and 25 lb female in 185 both down 93. FF green or yellow translucent glow.
  17. Thanks Gill, well put. We hunt the color out of Wilson, hope the easterlies are mild to non-existent.
  18. Grand Slam I was unable to open that PM. Very strange I had been "banned from the conversation" before I even opened the PM. Please resend the message. Thanks! Trophy chaser I'm sending you a PM right now.
  19. Mark sent you a PM with phone number, I'd be happy to share any intel. I'm hoping the fish get sick of hiding by Friday.
  20. OK here's my stupid "what would you do" TV reality show question: your guest/mate is green and heaving. What do you do? Call the ball? Pull an Ahab? Myself I get seasick pretty easy and keep on keeping on. So I am Cpt. Ahab and my crew is stuck on the boat until I am convinced that (A) the fishing is terrible; or (B) we are not safe. If I had a boat full of beach bunnies my calculus may be swayed. Unless the fishing be good. This seems to be a common issue...what's your call?
  21. I figure the fish don't sprout wings and fly off into space...the rest is up to me.
  22. He is a mean looking pig, great fish! I'd have that mounted it's a wild looking brown.
  23. Thanks amigo I have five days of fishing coming up Friday to Wednesday docked Wilson. Any intel is greatly appreciated. Hope you find some grandes.
