  1. I dragged a couple perch for a while. Those sub-legal fish are next years keepers, is how I look at it.
  2. Wow, you were into them. We were in the deep water as well, north of the bouy line. J9's and jointed 7's were what we did them on. Heard radio chatter compaining of the bite, but we managed to limit out. Largest just a tick over 20". It's just about the time now that they really will go on bouncers/crawler harnesses. Probably will mess around with those next weekend.
  3. Caught a pile-o-Walleyes 2 weeks ago on a east wind,,,,,,,,,,right up 'till I pulled it in the bright mid-day sun no less. Go figure.......
  4. ...............but I don't have any L.L. Bean deck shoes.............
  5. Thank God most of those stay tied to the dock 97% of the time, telling their pals there isn't enough wind, and then **** when it is windy. Odd bunch for sure.
  6. I know it is way beyond illegal, but maybe that is why God invented paint-ball guns? Perhaps the paint could be replaced with your favorite brand of fecal matter? Wait.........that is a bad suggestion.........
  7. Caught them 3-4" off the ball on Oneida before with huge consistancy, repeatedly.
  8. Was weaned on Walleye fishing years ago, and when we started fishing on the big lake, it seemed that the "fussyness" was gone. Those Walleyes will not go, if things aren't just right.
  9. I'll just continue to fish for fun, no drama, no polygraghs, just the fish, and me. Enough BS in life anyway w/o adding to it, during something one enjoys.
  10. Boated 10 or so myself on Sunday also. 5 1/2-6 colors, Rapala J-7 Firetiger did the most damage. Biggest was 21".
  11. Is there really a lie-detector test at a fishing derby?? I've only entered a couple in my lifetime, but has it really got to the point that machine is required to keep it on the up and up?? If it's that bad, I guess I've not missed much.........
  12. I've broke the last one of those I'll ever break...............
  13. When we have new guys on board we always let them go first, then I'll usually be the last one. But what if your solo?............that's when I get confused as to who goes first..........
  14. Mighty low hours for a 29 year old vessel. Certainly looks well cared for.
  15. I suppose you could run riggers right now, but just set up lead rods over the winter for use on Oneida. Pretty dang excited over my first time out with new equipment, that worked just as planned.
  16. 6/8 came out of the chute with the little boat and ran right to the deep water.37-40 ft, side-stepping the armada of boats already congregated on/near the "hump". Set out 5 and 6 colors and bang, bang bang, bang, with a couple doubles in the mix made for good fun, and good eats later. The east wind, or the almost noon sun later, did not effect the bite. Must have boated 16-18 fish, with a couple just over 21". Couple nice perch also. Great day on the water after a long work week! Looking forward to seeing if I can get them going like that again this weekend. Didn't even have much time for coffee or a sandwich, but I managed,,,,,,,,,,,
  17. We run sliding cheaters quite often. The King of Sting was taking fish last time out on a sliding cheater.
  18. Net story; I had my gal's 14 yr old grandson with me last August when we hooked into a nice 'un. I let him take the rod(his first ever King). Got it ready to net, and I bobbled it and stopped cold as I saw the hook ready to be pulled loose from the net. I had him grab the other net and I clam-sandwiched it the 2, and pulled it in the boat. 32 lb male, and that young man a happy camper!(he'll fish with me on Oneida next week) That net release trick would have not had me in that situation.
  19. The release on the net is a smokin' idea. I'm going have those on my nets before next time out.
