  1. Blue one looks like a Mora or older Strikemaster
  2. great to hear. Thanks for posting it.
  3. Boy....they look great!
  4. Another good reason to increase speed somewhat on turns
  5. Thanks Bill. Those are some great eating perch Kevin and well worth the time. I'm sure those grandkids will love them
  6. but I'd hate to be the one cleaning them Kev I managed a 7 lb largemouth among the perch today
  7. I wasn't meaning you Scott just explaining the common problem there. I still remember back in the late 60's and 70's when it was just a handful of old timers there and no problems. Now it is like Woodstock and a lot of folks aren't real experienced either.
  8. It is a problem at the extreme south end in front of the launch because some folks set up tip ups across the main beaten down path that doesn't have much snow on it so it is much easier to pull shelters out to fish out in the southwest corner using that route and when it is blocked off it can be a real pain to skirt way around through the snow and rough iced up holes etc. That area has been getting really hammered and mostly dinks in there now and all the sled and auger noise has spooked the good fish out deeper now. A lot of fishing pressure there.
  9. The main parking lot right at the water's edge is usually full and pretty tight Bob but there is also a large parking area before you get to the launch itself and most trailers usually park there Often people drop off there stuff at the waters edge at the launch and park in the larger lot. You'll see whre I'm talking about on the way in.
  10. x2 He keeps his stuff in good shape. I've been happy with what I've bought. very reputable guy.

  12. I guess it doesn't get much better than that all the way around....sweet!
  13. The downriggers slip out and I have 6 Cannon rod holders mounted on tracks to gimbals which I replace the front two of the downriggers normally seldom run four riggers
  14. No fuss no mess no extra holes - everything just lifts out when I want a rec boat
  15. Ice conditions may be a bit more complicated to evaluate now with this snowfall. It serves as an insulator and can disguise weak spots.
  16. Pete is a man of many talents
  17. Hey Keith kinda spooky out there isn't it? I used to stay all night in my little igloo (only one out there) and leave my truck at the California Ranch and head for the east side near Log Cabin right on the margin of the 30 ft hole. Once the lights go out hard to get your bearings until daylight. Endure the cold all night and then the damned walleye would hit at first light Couple times of that was enough
  18. x2 on John Mann. Pretty much a straight shot north on Rt #14 for you. He is the best around and very reasonable.
  19. Thanks kempie. I don't have any real desire to sell them as I like to spend my time actually fishing I have given out many of them to friends though and if we happen to run into each out there I'll try to have one available for you The damned things seem to work pretty well though on everything from lakers to kings and silvers.
  20. I look forward to it every year and have participated in every one except the first in 1966 as I was overseas. Prior to having a boat we fished off docks or the seawall at the north end of the lake with live bait or the area right on back of the Chamber of Commerce and usually caught a mixture of lakers and pike. The zebras spoiled that option in the shallows. I know there are folks that may feel that the fishing is more difficult lately and the fish aren't as easily caught but the fun of it is the challenge itself.. My son has fished it with me since early childhood and we still prepare for it together and get excited about fishing it every year. Last year we were the first two entrants (#s 1 and 2) and although we didn't hook any winners this time we had a heck of a lot of fun together and that is what it is truly all about.. In the past we often camped at Sampson many years and met a lot of great people and fellow fisherpersons I've fished many of the Lake O derbies in the past which were also fun but the Seneca Derby has always held a special place in my heart and chances of success or winning are far better. The current organization is really trying to hold on to the tradition and especially during this covid thing they can use our support. My entry has been mailed in already. I hope some of the folks thinking about entering will do so. You don't have to be constantly wrestling with fish to be having fun either and figuring them out is a great part ogf the experience.
  21. Wire on all four dipsies inside rods 6 1/2ft. outsides 8 1/2 ft. - no problems under normal circumstances
  22. I just use a little smaller size of my own Lake O flies on 30 lb mono instead of 50 lb behind small dodgers or spin doctor
