  1. Man... for a long time now I've been concerned about the power grid (archaic as it is) going down. This looks like one more possibility of it happening. It is amazing that the state regulates about every facet of our private lives but fails to protect our vital resources and things that could really screw us over; all for the sake of big money influence. This issue is about a lot more than fishing stuff.
  2. One of things not mentioned is that there have been more than one huge discharges (e.g. 55,000 plus gals in one of them) of sewage down the Keuka Outlet in the recent past. If more happen and are added to the thermal increase during summer it could upset everything. When you talk about millions of gallons of water being heated even in a lake the size of Seneca it is going to have an impact over time possibly changing the very nature of the lake itself by adding to a changing of the PH level and photosynthesis rate and amount of time it occurs. The fact that extensive impact studies haven't been carried out is disturbing.
  3. Let's step back a little and have a closer look at the nature of what the company is intending to do: it is to risk messing up a body of water that serves as a water source for thousands of people for a freaking game of questionable value controlled in large part by the Chinese government. The job creation aspect may be a myth as the computerization is in large part automated https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-mining/
  4. I'm not sure about the time frame and species availability then but Dave Marciano mentioned this one to me and said that he had taken Vets out for special outing etc. on their boat so I spoke with the folks as they are located conveniently right downtown with good sized parking lot setup and easy access. I didn't have time to go then but grabbed a brochure. Might want to call them for details.

Man....those look great Johnny even after eating supper those are mouth watering I'll bet that guy was thanking his lucky stars too as not too many folks out yet in many places
  6. Nice looking brown Mike and nice to see you getting an early start on things. I got my boat from storage last night and spent the day getting it set up so ready to rock and roll but as always at this time of year torn between the perch and trout fishing
  7. Nice work Andy any problems launching out of Hughes?
  8. Where did you launch out of?
  9. Bentpole made some good points and he and I agree on the points which we discussed further in a PM. I am convinced he wasn't trolling to get folks going. He is just very concerned about the environment as I am. We do need to stay focused on the environment and stick together as there truly is power in numbers and we have a very important investment in trying to contain special interests and cleaning up the environment if we are to keep this wonderful fishery.
  10. Bentpole you have a PM
  11. It really isn't the points made that are objectionable it is the politics injected that no matter which way you go it alienates about half the folks. It is a site dedicated to fishing so why bring that polarization into the discussion.
  12. Good one!

  14. Good advice and also if fishing for lakers at all the Dreamweaver 124 mm Deeper Divers
  15. The Round Gobies are something of an enigma. They appear to have both positives and negatives attached to them. On the one hand they may eat several dozen Zebra Mussels in a day, and serve as a food source for browns and lakers, but on the other hand they are known to eat the eggs of other fish, take over their spawning beds, ingest toxins from bottom feeding and possibly poison some birds that feed on them with botulism. Cormorants seem to heavily feed on them so it would be nice to poison off some of those things.
  16. x2 If you want the very best around and reasonable.
