I would happily participate as i have been meaning to start keeping a log of my season to try and identify trends, track conditions, etc. I'm sure I wouldn't be as much help as some of the heavy hitters out that way as I am a multispecies guy and my season is spent on several different bodies of water. I usually only get to CHQ a handful of times each year. I do believe that Ivan has some valid points but i will keep an eye out here and if this comes to fruition than I am in. It was nice today but i was stuck in the office! I was there tues... Very slow during cold/rain in the AM and had a few bites once the skies cleared up later in the day. Was funny trolling with a few other boats around with no action and all of a sudden myself and 2 other boats all hooked up at the same time. The fish in the area all said to each other "ok on the count of 3 lets all bite!".. And then it shut off again. Fascinating....

Can anyone recommend a spare tire carrier for my trailer that won't disintegrate after one season? The last two i had were from Harbor Freight (guess i didn't learn the first time) and they both completely fell apart. I carry the spare vertically on the frame of the trailer rather than laying flat on the tongue. thanks
We got one a few years ago up by mayville that looked just like that. And nice 45 yesterday Larry. I was trolling through that area earlier in the afternoon and got nothin.. Ran south and went 2 for 5 with biggest only at 34". Not sure what the problem was.... hooks were razor sharp. After my bait was spit back at me the 3rd time i damn near pulled a mike iaconelli...

Going on my 3rd season with Costa Hammerhead 580g and I love them. Another plug for Webster Eye Care- they were great to deal with and i am thinking of visiting again this summer for a second pair

Wow- cool story and pictures. nice to see some other guys' adventures even if they don't involve huge fish. Chad, was it you that fished the tourney at the cave last year? I remember seeing a report from last spring and was tough goin down there also. I love to take road trips and explore new waters almost as much as i love catchin big fish so it is cool to see guys posting reports outside of the local waters
Nice job! I have a sister in WV and have been meaning to try the muskie fishin out that way. You may have just inspired me...

Reelguy (Chris) is the real deal. Sent him a few reels last friday... Some bait casters and a couple daiwa sealine line counters. They arrived back to me today all cleaned/lubed and look great...1 week turnaround! Just wanted to give this guy a plug... will be sending a few more reels your way later this season.. Thanks again Chris

The wolf fish pictured is indeed hoplias aimara (locals call it hymara). Curupira is a different fish and although their native ranges overlap, curupira looks a bit different and does not get as big. Not trying to be a smart a$$, i am just a fish geek and have kept several members of the hoplias genus as pets over the years. I will have to save my pennies and join you on one of these trips in the next couple of years Capt Larry. Looks to be the trip of a lifetime!

So cool! I used to live near sanibel and have caught just about everything that swims around there... But never caught a lookdown. Very unique looking fish. Man do i miss grilled pompano!

Whoa...that thing is a monster. Spent a week there last July and didn't even see a pike. I am not much of an ice fisherman but maybe i should rethink that...
Spent a few hours in the harbor yesterday also- no action and nothing on the graph. Back into the river and went 3 for 4, biggest was just over 40". Man it was a nice day to be out on the water

I believe the early opener is for inland waters only- since they are supported by stocking and there is little to no natural reproduction. Maybe someone else will chime in that is more familiar with the proposals. Agreed that great lakes waters should remain 3rd sat in june to protect spawning fish- looks like the plan is to keep the season on great lakes the same

Thanks- fished hard fri/sat and early sun. Bunch of big pike and the one muskie. Was a smaller guy but posted the pic since fish from the larry are so damn cool looking. Was out solo so had to put him on the board to get a decent pic. beautiful weekend on the river
Wind finally laid down yesterday afternoon and picked up a 40 incher near clayton. Back at it this morning
