Lake Ontario Bait compared to Lake Huron & Lake Michigan
Ryno23 replied to RUNNIN REBEL's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I don't fish for LT I accidentally catch them some times but I never keep them they go back in the lake. I think most people throw back most LT caught plus the limit/slot limit on the lake help that. So the put and take program side of things is much better than the salmon/trout side of it. So there is always a decent class of LT around now from what I'm seeing caught and people crushing LT anytime they want when their targeted fish is not ard or not biting. -

Trailing spoon for salmon
Ryno23 replied to Ryno23's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I do have 4 riggers. Thank you for the info. Was wondering if lower than the FF was the ticket if the fish get drawn in by the FF ur spread. Thanks again. -
Main engine. I know a lot of guys are going wt the remote control types now. Mine is an older style that doesn't have that. If your getting a new one make sure you go that route. Steer the boat from anywhere...

I fished the lake for 5 years without an autopilot than got a new boat that had one won't ever look back. Not sure how I survived without one. One on my boat is a simrod. Works great but only one I've have ever had thu. Forgot the brand on my buddies but his works just as good. I would have a marina install it thu. Unless ur good at that stuff. Just my two cents.

I know using a trailing spoon in your spread is something people do. Just curious when trailing the spoon behind ur f/f spread do you have it above them or below them? Thanks.

Only thing I've used, no matter how much I try to be nice to my stuff....I'm not and it has lasted me.

Thank you, it seemed to work good wt the 840 screen but than I got a new boat and the speed jumps ard on me now.

I awhile back I got the x4 probe and was just using it wt the 840 console mount. I'd like to upgrade to the x4 screen read out on the console this year and was wondering if it has the same power plug as the 840? Hate to buy the screen and find out I need another power plug for it. Thanks in advance.

Boat was listed in 2012? At that price and still hasn't sold by 2016 something is a miss. -
I've bought flies from them, don't think I got 25 dollars worth and they sent them to me. Good quality flies they are mainly Lake Michigan stuff. I've caught a few salmon on lady o wt them. I lied, just looked at my old PayPal activity and it was more then 25 bucks...sorry.

I thought I heard one dock was in already. We stay at rainbow trout lodge, nice place but do not know when or if he has it open yet for the season. K&G lodging is a place a lot of guys stay at, again not sure if they are open yet. When I was abit younger and wt no kids wife and use to camp at Sunset. I know they have cabins but again not sure when they open for the season.

One thing I don't see is, always make sure your dipsey' are on the right side of the boat or you will have a big mess....all this good stuff above doesn't mean anything if ur dipsey's aren't on the right side to plane out. And they are up in ur riggers or worse 300 ft behind the boat tangled together. Just from someone that has experienced that...lol.

I understand ur not trying to be a D. But I thought when they changed it I always just read it as such for the lake too. Why I asked, never really cared because I don't really fish for them. So it didn't really effect me.

Wow. The past few years I always thought it was 1 in the combo even out in the lake. Oh well not that I targeted them much after July. Thanks.

Friend and I are discussing limits, I thought you could only keep one steelhead out on the lake. He was saying that's only in the tributaries that you can keep 3 steelies out on the lake. Which is right?
