  1. They have a display of Fullers spoons!!
  2. But he's in Washington, right now, fishing west coast steelhead?! Lol
  3. Ben~if you get the double keels. You'll want to anchor the front of your mast with a couple tie-downs. If you have the pedestal seat mount. I had mine pull out twice last yr...not fun!
  4. Sounds like a good idea. But I don't think you can use gamefish or parts of them legally. Anybody know? I believe it works! I've rubbed my flies on a salmon in the cooler to get a little scent on them.
  5. I decided to try running some meat rigs last summer. I bought a couple set-ups all matched and rigged from Big Weenie. Bought some Erie Deerie strips. They were very simple to run and took fish from the first trip out. The first batch of strips were freezer burnt and looked aweful. Then I got some really fresh ones. Didn't seem to matter. I fished them un-brined and brined in Pautzke. The brined strips lasted longer and seemed to get more hits. I was bought them from local tackle shops in Oswego and Pulaski.
  6. They def rip you on the half keels. $110 was hard to swallow. But if you want to run copper off them they are needed. They pull way harder!
  7. I have a 17 ft aluminum LOWE with a 90 hp 2-stroke Mercury. I added the troll-a-Matic and can troll down to 1.3 sog. I lost about 3-4 mph on my top end. It's been trouble-free for going on 3 years. Nothing to worry about breaking or have to remember to pull up.
  8. Order some spoons from Bob Fuller/Finger Lakes Tackle! He's got a huge selection of patterns and colors!! The finish is the most durable in the business!! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  9. He just posted on here last week about being at the lotsa show. I had the same problem last year. The website must not be working or something. A returned call or email would've been appreciated! I paid with PayPal, so I contacted them and they got me a refund. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  10. Lol-I bet it is tight!! You shwing off the popeye forearms? I re-spooled one of my wire reels last year with one of those table-top line spoolers. I kept tension on the wire with an old tennis ball that I cut a slit in. Smelled like burned rubber in the house, but worked like a champ! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  11. I have the single tite-loks. They work but go for something better if you can afford too. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  12. How big are the 00 ones......I have a couple of size 1 (luhr jenson), maybe about 3.5 to 4" dia.....are those good to start? I could be wrong on the size. I prefer to run 1 size down from the mags, with a ring. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  13. You're releases will slide down the tow line as much or as little as you want. Depending how much line you let out from the tip to the release. So you can control how much to space them. I wouldn't run the 2 rods straight behind the boat. Run them all on the planer board. Straight behind the lures will be all over the place tangling with others or snagging bottom. Trust me...been there~done it! I ran 3 sticks off each side for browns with single keels. Now I have the second keel. I highly recommend them!! They pull out to the side much better! If you have a seat mount mast: put a couple tie straps (not too tight) off the front. You don't want that puppy getting yanked out. Had that experience too! Luckily my buddy caught it before it knocked me unconscious/overboard while setting a rigger. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  14. One thing I noticed last summer with mag dipseys. If the currents are really bad, they don't seem to dig down into the water very well. A few times (when the fish were deep) I took them off and went back to the 00. Not sure if its the extra surface area or what. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  15. Occasionally I will run a spoon on a dipsey and usually pull the big game leader off and run 20 lbs floro. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  16. I just tie on one of the dreamweaver swivels that comes on a spin dr. Using the wire knot. Attach 0 size dipsey. Dial weight on dipsey to right or left on a 2.5 setting. I like (5-7 ft) of 30 lbs big game from the dipsey to another dreamweaver swivel. Has a little more stretch than floro. Will be more forgiving on a violent hit. Plus, it's cheap and you can tie a new one on every before every trip or so. Attach flasher/fly. Let out very slowly! Don't free spool. Just plop overboard and loosen drag so it clicks out. Set rod in holder till you get to desired distance. You will be surprised to see how many hits you get as it creeps out. Always keep tension on the wire to prevent pigtails. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  17. The spring king was 24.94... [ Post made via iPhone ]
  18. Another pic of the big guy: [ Post made via iPhone ]
  19. I logged about 150 hours trolling. So best guess was about 21-22 trips. Best day was in june: over 20 kings (including the 30.3 lbs er), 1 Atlantic, 3 browns, 2 steelhead and 2 coho. That was 2 guys fishing out of a 17 footer with 2 riggers, 2 wire dipseys and 2 coppers (500 and 300). [ Post made via iPhone ]
  20. 2012 was my first full summer on Lake Ontario fishing trout/salmon. What a year it was!! Thanks to all that came out and fished in my boat. Or took me out in their's!! Shorts in February! A buddies nice brown 2 weeks later...in the freezing rain. Nice fat laker! Very nice spring king!! This was one of those days in the spring where we fished for an hour or so with non-stop action. But the lake just got so rough/so fast we retreated in a hurry! Nice calm day in June. Nice little Atlantic. Boat record/personal best king 30.3 lbs in June! One of those really slow days. Really had to work for them that day. My buddy had fallen asleep and i pushed him out of his chair to grab the rod. Out aboard the buckboardjr in 4+ footers. We ignored the small craft advisory that day. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  21. I had a couple iffy looking swivels mixed in with some used stuff I bought. Things broke just opening/closing them twice. I never got them wet, just tied them on to hold a botched up copper on one of the eyelets for the ride home. I like the torpedos and the price is right! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  22. I don't recommend hooking the copper in the release. I tried that last year, ended up with weak spots that broke unexpectedly...and lost a couple. I started running 10 feet of 30 lbs big game between the braid and copper. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  23. Nope~we only use braid for backing on our copper reels. Run the dipseys on SS wire. Problem solved! [ Post made via iPhone ]
