  1. Glad to have you back on the water!! Always look fw to your threads!! WTG!! B)
  2. Makes sense, but a lot of us are just tourney fisherman or week-enders.
  3. If any of you guys were thinking about signing up for it. It's really a no-brainer. I purchased the top-of-the-line coverage (i believe was $67~unlimited freshwater towing). I got towed from Mexico Pt to the Little Salmon River launch. This was a few weeks ago. I just got an invoice that it cost them $513. I figured it wasn't cheap...but my jaw dropped when I saw that figure. It's the best $67 you can spend!
  4. I've had false releases clipped on the backing. And had my copper get kinked and later fail, from clipping to the copper. So I tie in 6 ft or so of 30 lbs big game. All connections with SPRO swivels.
  5. I was wrapping the line around the arm the first time I used my blacks releases. After letting my spoons "wash" for awhile I brought them in to change out colors. No spoons or leader on either. Low and behold I got bit on both and they never released. One fish broke a micro swivel right in half. The other cracked off the 15 lbs leader. Lesson learned!
  6. Make a loop and twist 5 times and put the loop in the release. Don't wrap the line around the arm of the release.
  7. Loop copper through spro swivel then wrap back over about 5 times. Twisting both ends. Google haywire twist knot. It's easy.
  8. How easily do your releases slide down with a dive bomb? I have a couple I've never tried. Heard that's a problem with them. They dig in and the copper takes forever to move out to the side.
  9. I stayed on the inside of 200 waters and didn't have many big marks. Only caught browns. Lots o bait!
  10. As far as possible! I run my boards out as far as I can depending on the boat traffic that day. 30-40 ft minimum. I started running copper last year off otter boats. I have a 300 on a Saltist and a 500 on a Tekota. I can tell you I much prefer 45 lbs Blood Run copper. It seems to deploy easier and kinks less. Use spro swivels for all connections and tie in about 7 ft of heavy mono between the backing and copper. Your releases will hold/attach much better to mono. Also, don't have it in the water unless its attached to the board line. It makes a huge mess when it tangles everything....but their's days it outproduces everything else!
  11. I have the elite 5 dsi. And had the same concerns at first. The fish appear as a group of dots almost resembling the shape of a fish (rather than hooks), if you mark any. Smaller fish show up so faintly you'll need to put your face close to the graph. I rarely mark browns in shallow. I seem to get a lot of interference in shallower water. Go out deeper and you'll know when you mark a king or school of baitfish. One plus to this graph is you don't have to decipher what a bunch of over-lapping hooks represents. You'll max out marking bottom in about 320 fow. I like to use the white background. Seems easier to read.
  12. Took Bernie about an hour to pick us up at the plant. But he was home mowing the lawn when they called him.
  13. Nope, we got towed back to the little salmon by boat usa towing. Luckily I signed up for that last year.
  14. We fished from the Mexico launch to the plant: 7-30 fow. Didn't move one rod. Stopped to untangle a snag...wrapped the prop. And got towed in.
  15. That's an awesome day!!! Had a couple kings on sticks last year. That's the best!!! What lbs test leader ?
  16. Yup, 500 ft of atommik or a touch more blood run.
  17. Go with sea bags. They help stabilize the boat too.
  18. I just leader down my rigger rods with 20 ft of 12 lbs floro. Those browns aren't rocket scientists!
  19. I'd do another sealine with wire or a saltist if you can afford it.
