  1. I'll spoonfeed some stuff i've learned (over time) and through trial/error. But i won't teach you how to google or run a search on this site! Check out: http://www.michiganangler.com/
  2. I've been running meat for two years and i do well with it. IMO~you need two hooks on your teasers. Two trebles or a tournament rig (single and treble). Brining your bait makes it last longer. I prefer to run my teasers behind a kingfisher type flasher.
  3. I own 12 lbs Torpedo weights and a buddy of mine brought his 12 lbs Sharks to try. The Sharks have much less blow-back! My DSI FF doesn't usually mark my weights but it did when i ran the sharks. Much less angle to the cable. And they were much easier to crank up on the manual Cannons. Plus, the harmonic sound from them is an added attractor. I would get 15 lbs myself. I would like to try out the Torpedo Diver weights. But, i don't really think it matters too much. I still catch fish with blow-back on the Torpedo weights.
  4. Mine are cupped on the outside and inside. Tire pressure is right. Trailer is an 05 with light use. Thoughts?
  5. Plenty of places. You can launch at Bay bridge Sport shop on Ridge Rd (south end of the bay)...very weedy there. Their's also a free state launch as you come into Sodus Point on the right just past Arney's marina. Arney's has a pay-to-launch and so does Abe's right in downtown Sodus Point. Fish perch in the lake or bay. Plenty of bass in the lake and bay. Northerns and panfish in the bay. Maybe a few eyes around too off Eagle/Leroy island in the deeper water of the bay.
  6. Were you night casting or trolling? Used to get a few off the rip-rap by the marina at night.
  7. Thanks for the invites this past spring! Too bad it was too rough both times. Sounds like you enjoyed the heck out of our lake...while you were here. Good luck!!
  8. I'm curious why some guys run the big reels for wire. Your line counter isn't as accurate without a full spool...and the bigger reels are more money. 1,000 ft of wire fills most 30 size reels perfectly.
  9. This year it was the "Black meat pounding deep" spoon...by Finger Lakes Tackle.
  10. Cool video! I was out there in the evening. Headed west out of the shoot. Dropped lines at 150 and trolled out to 235 past Maxwell. Marked a couple and some small bait pods 40-50 ft down. Ended up skunked. Probably the last trip on the big lake till spring. Was a beautiful blue-bird day on the water~anyways!!
  11. Lol! Except my 10 ft Starfires are $25/each and you get a heck of a workout!! And my lack of engineering skills is priceless!! Hand-lining those kings in is a lot of fun!! God hates a coward!!
  12. I agree with all that has been said. But...it's way easier to run a 10 ft lead between your diver and flasher on a 10 ft rod. And easier to net a fish with a long lead on a longer rod. And I guarantee a longer lead gets you more bites! If you're too much of a wimp to handle a 10 ft rod...either start pumping some iron or take up walleye fishing! (hide)
  13. They work...as do the kingfishers pulling cut bait or a long leader fly!
  14. I have 2 depthmasters. I spooled them with 15 lbs line for browns. They're not too shabby for $30 reels. I agree with using them for spoons...they don't seem to haul in a flasher as easily.
  15. ...But black dots on the other side.
  16. I just had to super glue the "window " for the linecounter back on my Tekota 800. If that says anything about the quality (and piss poor factory drag) of a $180 reel. I will stick with Daiwa reels in the future. Love my Saltist and Sealine reels!
  17. Low end...Okuma Convector 30 Middle...Daiwa Sealine 47LC High...Daiwa Saltist 30 I currently have 3 seasons on the sealines and like them a lot. Never-ever had the issue the other guy was just talking about with the wire getting caught in the side of the spool. The gear ratio is the selling point on the Saltist. Convector is a nice reel for the price.
  18. Keep fishing and you can catch all 3 species till the end of the month.
  19. Check out Captain John Kings website.
  20. Congrats!! Over 36 is one heck of a king!!
