  1. Atommik sells the half-keels. The boards do start to sink at rest with both keels.
  2. I paid $700+ for mine. You can buy them for $350-400 now. If that's all you can afford...it's a good value for a GPS/FF combo, IMO.
  3. I've been running an elite 5 dsi for 5 years. When i bought it i wasn't (or planning on) trolling Lake Ontario. I was a total newbie with a new (to me) boat and didn't like the FF that was on it. It was a "new" FF on the market. It's def designed more for jigging or still fishing in shallower water. However, i've caught a lot of King's with it aboard. The GPS is great! The FF does mark bait and fish. The smaller marks are harder to see. But it also doesn't have a lot of the clutter on the screen you get from FF's that use hooks to designate a fish. If it marks a big king...you will def know it! The biggest disadvantage is that it maxs out depth at 300 fow. If you go deeper than 320 it stops marking bottom. The FF will still mark fish. You just won't know how deep you are. I seldom fish deeper than 300...so it hasn't been too much of a problem.
  4. I had my spoon holders in the kitchen last summer. When i would come home an hour or so after dark...the moonshines were still brighter than the rest. I agree the super-glows can be too bright.
  5. Wire is the answer. You'll catch more fish too from the added depth!!
  6. IDK...i ordered spoons off Northern King's (not working) website a couple of years ago. I got dinked around for a couple of months and they got me my money back. Worth a try!
  7. If you payed through paypal...file a dispute through them. They will get you your money back.
  8. I've heard other people mention reverse spooling onto another reel. Then you can get some time on the un-used portion. As long as it's on your reel tight and you cut off the last few feet every-so-often i don't see why you'd have to change it.
  9. Mines installed right next to the battery. Look on ebay for your best pricing or do a google search.
  10. I ran a rig similiar to that and never did much with it. This is on the south-east shore. Who knows...maybe that will be the hot rig this year!!
  11. Just stop at all-seasons in Pulaski on your way up. They always have plenty.
  12. He's out west steelhead fishing. Send him an email or call in a week or so.
  13. One of my buddies fried up a fresh small coho last summer and said it was the best fish he ever had!
  14. I like all of it! The Flea flicker does stretch the most and takes up a lot of space on the reel. It does twist easy and isn't the greatest with knots...but you get 0 fleas. It doesn't work too great in a blacks release without a rubber band. I think it's best use is to tie in a 100 foot section between your mainline and leader during flea season. Don't grab it with a screamer on the other end. It's oval shape will make it cut into your hand! The Big Game is the most user-friendly and the strongest. It's the easiest to tie knots with and stretches the least. But you will get some fleas on it. I use this on my spoon rod and leader down to 20 lbs floro via a spro micro-swivel. The Blood Run is a great line. It's slick to the touch with some kind of coating on it. You will get 0 fleas with it. But it's huge and hard to tie knots with (especially to small swivels). I didn't notice the amount of stretch someone else mentioned. But i believe it. I used this on my rod i ran flashers on. I ran it straight to a spin dr swivel.
  15. Where did you guys park?
  16. I tried it about 8 years ago. The ice was real sketchy (when all the other lakes around were safe)! Their must be a lot of gas wells or sewage gas or something. The ice would be ok for a few feet then rotten/slushy white ice a few feet away. I remember i was jigging a hole and i could poke the sides of the hole out with the tip of my jigging rod. We didn't catch anything and their was a couple other guys that tried it for the first time and got skunked too. I'd bring a spud if you try it!

I have my best luck on tip-downs with fat heads...on the bottom.
  18. I never noticed any friction weakening the wire. But i was using starfire rods that are a med-light and bend pretty good!
  19. I ran my dipsey rods without twillis for 2 seasons. The wire was never compromised. But it finally ate through my top guide.
