  1. I feel so much safer & happier knowing that so many middle age & older citizen households have guns and are ready and able to defend our country against the US government and its standing army. You know, these older people who had their backgrounds checked years & years ago and in the last few years have experienced stresses such as job losses, housing foreclosures, lost kin, divorces, changes in health, etc. If you feel so much more secure with guns in your household, more power to you – God bless you. Hopefully you have them stored properly so your kids don't mess with them. http://www.gallup.com/poll/150353/Self- ... -1993.aspx I wonder how many actually served in the “shooting†military. Gun owners I know never had a deer shoot back at them. But hey, everybody’s a quarterback on Sunday and knows what play to call, although only a few know what it’s like to be caught in the pocket by a 280Lb tackler. BTW the automatic weapon ban expired in 2004 & hasn’t been re-enacted. Well here’s some breaking news – NRA calls for armed security at all schools. Hey what about shopping malls? Theatres? Festivals? How big of a gun do we give them – they’ll probably always be out gunned & claiming they don’t have enough firepower. (like the Police did) Hopefully he'll be wired so he can call for backup. How does one security officer cover all entrances/exits? Even putting metal detectors in schools was controversial. Every time one of these shootings happen either they walk through the front door or are already in the school. Being a teacher I know first hand our school's doors are all locked from the inside and unless you have a key or fob you cannot get in without breaking down the door. Would a police officer be a deterrent? Hell ya it would be. [ Post made via Android ]
  2. Really? wow I didn't know they should be ran that close to the ball.
  3. Maybe it is me but what is considered a short leader? I run leaders around the 40' range would that be considered short?
  4. Ok sounds good I was curious, not trying to put a kink in the line. I would definitely like to participate however it works out.
  5. Most everyone can carry a concealed firearm Legally unless 1 they are a felon or 2 do not have a permit to allow this. You could be walking through the super market and the women in front of you could have a pistol in her purse and you wouldn't know it. I don't think the law enforcement or service men and women would feel insulted by allowing the public to own guns that is just asinine. All of the law enforcement officials I have ever talked to are wary of the person that isn't allowed to carry concealed and not the upstanding citizen that owns 5 AR-15s or 20 pistols. Personally I own assault style rifles and pistols but people need to realize that just because I own them it doesn't mean I am planning on shooting people with them.
  6. Sounds like it could be fun I could probably get a couple guys to do it with me. [ Post made via Android ]
  7. Right on man nice to see another teacher that feels the same way I do. [ Post made via Android ]
  8. I think I will do the same. It has been a fun one guys. I mean technically it should have happened 500 and something days ago because the mayans forgot about leap years but ehh I won't be doing anything different.
  9. I need another swivel base for my downriggers so if you have one to offer let me know. It doesn't need to be low profile but I don't need the high turret style. The age of the base doesn't matter just needs to be in working order. Thanks, Chas
  10. If those i/o start to ping you could always retard the timing a bit to help. also goes the same for picking up a few hp by advancing it a bit. i know my grand father-in-law has his a tad advanced to help with the idling for long periods of time.
  11. I smoke mine but use a recipe in my venison cookbook. I can post it up later when I am home. It is a great tasting recipe.
  12. Dave, Are those events more more centrally located in ny? Lockport is just too far for me.
  13. I was cruising around a few of my favorite weather sites and sail flow now has a smart phone app. I just downloaded and going to give it a shot. This also free so all you cheap skates will love it. [ Post made via Android ]
  14. I keep both units on the boat mostly because I wanted a dedicated gps/chartplotter and a sonar. I can use my lowrance as both but my humminbird reads just as nice if not better than my lowrance. Not to mention my humminbird is a quad beam setup so I can see so much more beneath the boat.
  15. My orange/yellow dipsy always out performs my black dipsy. when set exactly the same FF and length.
  16. haha ya they will all be on swivels except the walker. I h ave been huffing the 10 pound balls on the manuals since a kid so for me its easy. My wife on the other hand could use a little more practice haha. The unitrolls seem to be the easiest retrival when talking manual downriggers.
  17. sweet thanks for all the great info. I bought a hilts shark mold online to make a few 10lbs weights I just couldn't justify $55 a weight when the mold and hooks are $70 shipped. between the 4 triggers and 2 dipsy rods I should be set. I might actually run 4 tipsy but not if it's crowded. [ Post made via Android ]
  18. I have 2 transducers on my boat and both are the same freq. they interfer constantly with each other. I am on the verge of pointing one into the sky to keep from competing with each other. EDIT: just did some research and I can turn off the sonar on my one unit.
  19. I was thinking too of buying heavier rigger weights for the front to prevent blow back. Would that help? I run 10lb finned balls off the rear riggers and figured I would run some nice 12-15 lb fish/torpedos on the front.
  20. O ya forgot to mention look at all the points where any bolts are on the trailer they rust out where the cross members and U clamps bolt over the trailer main sections.
  21. I actually changed my surge brakes over to electric. Long as you don't use it in salt water you won't have any issues. The electrics are a lot more reliable and easier to trouble shoot. I bought complete backing plates with shoes for $40/each. Bought some wire from auto zone and wired up an RV plug.
  22. I wish I had hydraulic steering. Mine spins easy enough but I don't know if I should upgrade to hydra and just get the autopilot later on. I love the hydraulic steering I have used on other boats but don't know if I can justify the cost when mechanical is so much cheaper.
