Years ago there was some third party testing reported in Sports Afield that did the entire fish, filleted fish w/ no skin, vegetables / lettuce from grocery store. Those results indicated that the food from the store has higher concentrations of toxins than the fillets. I think the suggestions as mentioned are spot on, younger fish, fillet them, no skin you’ll live to fish another day. I personally will take the McNugget over the salmon but perch never lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Take the doctors advice...... and it’s free... only thing I could add is get a mate gig with a captain, preferably sooner rather than later. You’ll learn more than you could ever on your own. Might even give you a sense of what you might not be expecting. There’s a wide network of professionals and amateurs on here that are very helpful and willing to go out of there way for people. I was thinking the same thing but he mentioned he had checked it this year so I’m assuming he had oil which would take the winterization out of the equation. I would think to lose all of your oil you would have a complete mess from a catastrophic failure in engine box area and highly unlikely you burned it up in that short period of time without noticing a bellow of smoke while running. Hate to think vandalism as a potential. Hope you get back on track with it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Went solo tonight for a couple of hours in hopes of trying some cut bait. Jason from Great Lakes Lure was gracious enough to let me try a paddle from Minion the other night and was hooked. Reached out to Chris from Minion Fly Co today and was able to get my hands on some. Thanks a bunch Chris for the quick service. 125-140 ft down near bottom. Nice night to be out. Agree. I use the web cams on the lake shore that you can find for Ontario and base a decision on that of how it looks. That’s been the most reliable. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Search the areas off the edges of drops. Drift as much as you can no motor. If you find them drift through it then come back around and anchor up wind with lots of rope. If you have electric motor even better. 20-40ft Do the Seneca wave if you catch one. That’s - wave to the boat going by while keeping the fish still in the water. ...... good luck out there. I think I agree with most that these inspections are not a bad thing. Yea, if I’m sitting in my driveway and asked to board my boat, not that this would ever happen, but you get the jist, I’m not happy, but out on the water, it’s the right thing to do. Two years ago I was boarded. Allowed to keep trolling with auto pilot. Yep fish on. Two officers watched as we netted. 10 min total time. Said similar thing of keep paper for next time and off they went. Wouldn’t want their job, especially with what they go through but I do want to support them. Thanks Lewis863 for the inspection day idea. That’s awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

My humble opinion, we’re making too much out of this, 40lb to 50lb is heavy line. If it’s breaking continuously throw the spool out, or take it back. Buy something different. I use 4.00 big game when the fleas are in, never had an issue. Yea, made leaders out of it in a pinch. I think some are xx years old still. Yikes. Any way. I’m still looking for the Gary D rig info. We seem to be skipping that question. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

FYI, be mindful of the weight of the boat with water, can put some serious strain on the trailer. When you say it doesn’t have livewells, did it at one point? Is there a difference in the leak sitting in the water at the dock vs running around with it? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

You’ve also mentioned this Gary D rig several times, could you be nuking the monofilament in the microwave when your making it from the MC rockets? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
