Maybe instead asking questions on HIP# where they have very little relevance questions to season dates they poll hunters on there rate of success by when they hunted and what would like the dates to be? Met up with Joe and Jen from Blue Rock Charters for a family ice fishing excursion out of Belleville CA. My youngest has been begging to give it a try. Jack Frost made himself at home but didn’t stop us. If you ever get a chance to try this, Capt Joe Pence is your guy. Both Joe and Jen were very knowledgeable, extremely friendly, warm and welcoming with always making sure we were taken care of. Years ago I had the privilege of learning some of Seneca’s top fishing techniques for perch and lake trout from a man named Don DeSio. Some would say he could catch a perch out of a bucket sitting in his living room. Over the years he took a lot of people out on Seneca for an experience that only a few could ever imagine. In my opinion it’s more of a hunter issue getting over the fact that we would only be able to take 1 buck per season vs the anti hunting groups having their way. Ohio’s gun season is a week long. (NY is 3 weeks), there Muzzle is another 3 days. Their Bow however runs Sept - Feb. your not necessarily reducing limits as you can take more antlerless deer. Kinda would change the NY culture. When it boils right down to it a lot of NY hunters like to get right back out after another buck. I’m not finding fault but we can’t have our cake and eat it too. If we all want better quality bucks, we pretty much know what we need to do, it’s not rocket science. Also I’m not trying to debate anyone it’s just an opinion. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
