  1. I run a 9.9 merc on my 221 islander works nice.,the other thing u need to factor in is will the kicker get u off the lake if u need it under tough conditions, not much seance of having a kicker and depending on it as a safety backup if it won't do the job
  2. Last year I ran one wire diver and one mono. Never took a hit on the mono, thinking about changing out the mono to braid but then concerned about fleas. Should I just switch it out to wire instead? Would be running two wire divers then one per side
  3. No matter where they are expensive. My purchase for next year though
  4. We pick by who went fishing last unless my dad is on board then he goes first. If my son or daughter is on board they go first then my dad
  5. I need to do this as well.
  6. honestly my islander only takes so much gas at a time. Don't know what irt is but I can't have the nozzle more than 1/4 squeezed and the fill port still seems to fill up with gas kicking the damn nozzle off. I get good airflow out of the overflow port so I know it isn't plugged
  7. Wow...that was an absolute steal right there.
  8. Got it. Well, we can see our oil reservoir but it takes awhile for it to seem to go down as it holds a couple of gallons
  9. I have had to get my islander carb rebuilt this year. The nearest fastrac from me is a 25 min trailer so we are talking almost an hour round trip. That really sucks but I am thinking about doing the haul to fill up. The other option is to buy some new 5 gallon cans. Would need 4 of them at least to keep the boat topped off. From my work, the fast trac is sort of on the way home. This might be the better option
  10. We have had issues with our 1986 evinrude 70 hp. Yes I said 1986. Runs like a top otherwise. Our alarm will go off even though there is plenty of oil in the reservoir. What is this test of mixing oil in your tank and testing it? Do u mean that if you mix oil in gas and the alarm doesn't go off u then know that the bro system is shot?
  11. Defiantly the wireline knot. Simple and strong
  12. I kinda like the free slider idea simple
  13. Wow just goes to show u how those kings will eat. That spoon looks really big for that guy! Love the fish hawk, that will be my next purchase for next year. Can't swing it this year
  14. I run 30lb big game with a 8 foot FCC 15 lb leader using an Albright knot. No issues with fleas nor knot going thru my ocuma rods.
  15. Ok so u use a clip like u would use for a stacker on a rigger? Basically the two pinch pads that are connected via wire?
  16. Knowing that I only get out to hunt down salmon 2x a year and launch out of Mexico, anyone willing to give me a GPS point or two for target locations for kings in Mid July?
  17. no **** I have a couple of those spoons both the regular and magnums. Got them in my dream weaver pro packs! Never caught anything on them, though
  18. I have a kicker on my islander but have considered getting some bags as well. There are times when the bags would be used when I am running the main engine when I need greater steering ability
  19. I need to pick up some of these I used 8lb cannon weights last year didn't quite cut it on my mag10a riggers down deep
  20. I don't understand fully the release on the net part here what does that get u?
  21. I have never used a slider but will try it out. Also wondering if I could use it for trolling my home lake for walleye.
  22. Wow that is crazy. I remember the posts and imagery showing Lake Superior iced over. I guess that doesn't happen often. Was a brutal winter for sure
  23. can someone post a pic of one of these?
