Heads Up about bubbler pipes at Taughhanock
finsntins replied to RodBuster's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
we were there checking out the launch couple days ago and also noticed them close to the surface, you will definitely catch them with your motor,to me it looked like your best bet would be to stay as far to the left as you can going out to the lake. -

absolutely nothing wrong with the digitroll 5,i have them on both my boats for many years now with hundreds of hours on them and never had one issue with them other then cables breaking on them when they were brand new.if anything, replace the cable just to be safe.also, the digitroll 5 should have an extendable booms.

i second everything that yankee stated.absoluetly no need for 1000w ducer, actually dont even need 600w for what we do,but a traditional sonar unit with an airmar 50/200 600w is all that is needed for trolling.i run a transom mount ducer and on high frequency never loose bottom and can clearly see bait running 30 mph.put it on low frequency for trolling and you will see everything you need to see under your boat, with proper tuning and correct ducer angle.i know you are looking to go with a single unit, but like rick said,i put a variable chirp 100-140khz with only 300w ducer unit on my boat last year and i am extremely happy with the detail it shows between fish and bait.so between the traditional 50/200 and the chirp 100-140,i feel like its the best setup for trolling.

Run your mags between 230-300’ out and run your riggers 110-140 and put meat on every rod you have!!!! We haven’t been fishing near the plant but I know guys that have and they say the current is pretty bad,so fishing without a hawk, your down speed might be off, really need to be good at reading your rigger cables and diver rods to get your speed right -

another route to go is if your kicker has an external gear shift lever on the motor, you can buy a control king throttle control to control your motor speed.these units are great, start your motor, put it in gear and then just turn a dial to control your speed at the helm.super easy to dial in your speed just right.no need to install controll box or cables.probably be around the same price as buying new cables.
