Actually look for mercruisermike on eBay. He has cylinders from down south - best deal around. Thats what I got when I had water intrusion in mine and had it crack last winter. They bolted right up and worked great all fishing season. Make sure to flush out all of the old fluid when you switch them over.
We have a charter guy in Milwaukee that runs his dipsys in the dirt for lakers during tournament time. I'm not such a fan of that and its a pain in the but. So what about just running a 2 lb ball off of the inside board in place of the dipsy? That way you can have 2 corner riggers - one smacking bottom and one 5 feet off the bottom. Then run at least one ball off a board. Is that too much going on down there
The ev-200 came as a package with the wheel sport pilot.
Raymarine EV-200 Sport Pilot Autopilot - T70159
The Sport Pilot is discontinued though but you still might be able to find a complete package somewhere. I think you other option would be to go with an EV-100 and then go with an octopus drive if you have the space behind the helm.
I have the exact same motor and I went with the Raymarine EV-200 with the wheel pilot. Best thing I've ever bought for the boat.
What do you have for a chartplotter/fishfinder? That can also play a role if your autopilot has the ability to use data from it.
I had good luck on kings after sunset until 10pm, but # of kings to go out for last year to make it worth saying out past sunset. Did an all nighter once last year - all 3 people fell asleep on the boat for about an hour....while trolling. Even the dog was asleep. Good thing its a big lake with no one around.
I dont use any mono on mine. Just a big bead before the swivel - it prevents the newbies from reeling the swivel in the the roller tip and losing a fish. I dont have to break down my rods so i cant help you there. For a knot, I just tie a normal granny knot x3 to the swivel and tighten each one with pliers. There is no pain like getting loose wire stuck in your thumb by the way....so use pliers.
Always amazes me how much fish check stuff out and mouthing it before taking it. Make you wonder how many trophy salmon go and stare at your spoons and never take it....
So since I dont want to look through 1000 post regarding copper - what would be the recommended weight to get? I already have 1 through 10 color reels setup and catch a majority of my fish on those. Would a 300 copper/steel be the way to start? What is the supposed depth on 300?
If you take paypal for the item, usually you can just print the shipping label right at home if you have a scale to weigh the boxed up item. Then just tape it on and drop it at the post office.
I've done over 40 transactions on this forum and I live in Wisconsin (your message board is way better for fishing techniques/info than any other site). Usually all it takes is a picture, a fair price, and a decent description and stuff gets sold pretty quickly.
I have a 25ft cuddy cabin boat. Since I'm redoing the canvas I'm actually going to have a back canvas on the bimini this year. Since is always so freaking cold until mid July the last few years, I was thinking on getting a heater craft 300 series heater system. I have a Mercruiser 350 I/O on the boat. Its fresh water cooled so it wouldnt heat up until the motor is fully warm. Was going to run one vent to the each side and then run one up to the windshield for defrosting/defogging. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with running one and how it performs. I'd imagine that it wouldnt be the greatest with fresh water cooling, but it still is 160 water so it has to do something.
Anyone see the new Torpedo weighted steel wire? Its a new product for 2016 meant to have the flexibility without kinking of wire and have the weight of copper. Thoughts? I only run read and have 10 different lead reels for my boat and just havent had the urge to try copper since it tends to be a pain.
I have the Raymarine EV200 with the steering wheel pilot. Its steers in almost 2 straight of a line. The only time that it went hard over was in a 40mph winds and 5 foot waves....yeah I fish some dumb conditions sometimes Its the best money I even spent on the boat. I touch the wheel twice during each trip. Once to leave the dock and I steer my way out with the autopilot. Then when parking the boat on the dock. I even do my 180 turns with the unit, but that requires a Raymarine MFD to do patterns I think.
I was thinking about an arch just for the rod storage on the way in/out. I dont ride out with rods in the trees, so its a hodgepodge of built in rod holders and folding dipseys holders when riding out. Then you have to do the rod dance to get everything setup. Would be nice to ride out with the arch and just start throwing lines out right away. No one really runs their rods from their arch anways....right? Well maybe one copper down the chute.
