  1. Never mind a few years. The bass fishery is already on the decline. One would think the guys that want it to be as good as it can be would lay off during the spawn, but no.
  2. Big Papa sport fishing also makes bags. Not sure of the sizes off hand though.
  3. If I am not working a charter, I am going to try early AM.
  4. All good spots. Nothing really going anywhere. That screen shot was taken off the tip of Salubrious. We fished outside of the Isthmus and took one. I also talked to a guy that fished early, early AM. They took five at dawn. Maybe that is the key right now. This high sun and calm water is shutting them down during the day.
  5. Why two pics all of a sudden? Sorry.
  6. I fished Saturday for my self and came up empty. I did find a nice school of fish, but could not get them to hit anything. The pic is below. I worked on a charter boat Sunday and Monday. We took one eye early Sunday, and then went quiet. Monday, we talked our clients into some rod action and limited on lake trout.
  7. I have had miserably slow mornings on the water, and in the duck blind following a full moon. I think there is something to be said for the wildlife up all night putting on a serious feeding frenzy, then loafing for a while after.
  8. It has been slow. The water temps are finally edging toward the low 60's. Maybe that will help.
  9. Water temps are on the rise finally hopefully triggering more aggressive feeding patterns.
  10. That's not good. Especially on the river. I just put in an Elite 7 CHIRP with the Nav+. It seems to be pretty accurate. I would bet one of two things is going on: 1). your unit needs a software update. 2). Your card needs to be updated with freshest data. Both scenarios need an update downloaded from the Lowrance website. Search Lowrance updates. Tons of stuff will come up. Hope this helps.
  11. Definitely thru-bolt it. Silicone in the holes, and big washers on the inside behind the nuts.
  12. Can you post a pic? I run the TX-22 and the walleye boards. No diving. If anything, I would like to see the walleye board pull more like the 22’s.
  13. Not sure where you are located, but there is this one. http://watertown.craigslist.org/bod/5585873511.html
  14. Sorry. Large end midship. If they are slightly behind that, no biggie. Just not far enough back to interfere with riggers or landing fish.
  15. Large end forward, like a scoop and then the water spills out the narrow end.
  16. He speaks the truth. The boat will turn to one side until you have both in, and full of water. If they do not immediately fill with water, pull up on the tag(back) line until they do fill up. If that does not work, use the handle to your landing net and push them under water until full. Good luck and happy slower trolling.
  17. I am sure others will chime in, but my experience the last three years has been cold weather, cold water, unsettled weather patterns(fronts and fluctuating pressures) leading to a slow bite in early May. Late May and June have been better for me, as well as others I have talked to. There are always guys that are the exception and they boat more 'eyes than anyone, anyway. To be honest, I am quite surprised to see Kevin Legg reports not moving a rod. While I don't know him personally, I do know his reports are usually just the opposite. At first, i thought it was a joke. While I am certainly far from a walleye whisperer, the only advice I can give you, is the same thing I keep telling myself when it is slow; keep moving, look for bait, and fish more;). My Achilles heel is fishing the same spots that produced before, and banging my head there hoping. With that said, I think the bays are holding a lot of fish right now, they are just loafing, and hitting out of instinct. The last two fish I had on, one we lost and the other was just barely hooked in the lip, as if it just nibbled curiously and got hooked. I still think the usual spots in the bays are going to heat up, just in time. Keep moving, look for bait and fish more. If only it were that easy. I am sure others will chime in, hopefully.
  18. Slow for sure, but then again that has been the pattern for opening weekend in the Eastern basin. Guys are getting them, but not in big numbers yet. I have been out three times, and taken just one each outing. I am marking a ton of big fish, some bait and seeing a lot of bait on the surface, but just sluggish loafers for fish.
  19. I got out early afternoon. Boated one.
  20. I know, there were some on here a while back but can't find them now. Does anyone have a pair they would like to part with? PM me if so. Matt
  21. I thought maybe. It seemed to fit the distributor looser too. It may have been just plain worn out. It was Merc brand. May have been original. Thanks for the help.
  22. it was clean, with a little corrosion on each contact.
