  1. no doubt they are. Unless water levels are low, early September always gets a decent push of fish
  2. Awesome job, it's nice to see those fat walleyes again! I'll be back out there in October but for now still trolling for salmon. I bailed on the little 'O' in July and hit Oneida myself and found out I Can still catch fish haha.
  3. Hey nice job out there! I got shut down the past 2 days due to the weather and couldn't get the kayak out into the deep. Next stop will probably be the estuary after I get back from fishing Cape Cod next week. Maybe I'll run into you and your grandson again out there?!
  4. saw only a few boats out in front of camp fishing along the wall and wondering how they did? I woke up with a sinus thing going on and wasn't up for the long paddle out there so I stayed in. waves were a lot better than the 4- 5' swells I was in yesterday out there and turned around and headed back without dropping a line. Looks like lake fishing will be over for me by the time I get home from cape cod and will have to settle for estuary fishing
  5. ok thanks I'll take my time getting up there then. dont mind the waves but don't like paddling back to shore against the wind after pulling divers for a couple hours
  6. That's awesome, can't wait to get my daughters out when they get a little bigger. Great job
  7. how's the wind up there today and what direction is it coming from? On my way up now until tomorrow and hoping to get out there with the kayak
  8. or run outriggers with more subtle presentations further back for when they back off of the center rigger setup
  9. When I used to fish the river I always started in august and found fish
  10. Wow that's a nice haul. I will be salmon fishing this weekend up there unless the south wind is too strong for the kayak and then it will be walleye trolling in front of camp instead. I like fishing out of Henderson as well. I stick to big Reef Runners but will occasionally change it up to harnesses if nothing is going. I put floats on my spinner rigs this year and the gobies haven't been as much of an issue
  11. good to hear they are likeing slower speeds. I can't get to the uppers 2's and 3's running divers in the kayak unless I have a tail wind but coming back around isn't any fun
  12. I am hoping for just one day calm enough day between saturday and next tuesday to get my kayak out there again!
  13. Hey guys, any recommendations for lure colors when fishing the skinnier water (50' or less)? Going to fish for a few hours sunday and not sure if I should stick with the same colors and flasher/ fly rigs for deeper fishing. PM me if you want, thanks!
  14. Thanks JJ, I found my map but it doesn't show the contours like yours does. Very helpful, thank you
  15. I can't find my Western Zone lake contour map, must be burried in my garage. Any chance someone has a link for the Fair Haven area?
  16. Thanks 2lbperch for the info, that's definitely within paddles reach! I went out to the "Trench" on Sunday into 130' with no hookups but did find some fish. I may have to try FH after all since that sounds like a shorter paddle.
  17. I went out late this afternoon in the kayak. Marked a couple strays off the mountain but many more marks from 100'- 130', most were 80 feet down. No bait pods until I hit 32' heading back in to my camp and the screen lit up with bait and bigger marks. 2-3' rollers honestly were not bad at all, not even in my 10.5' yak but did not see another boat fishing from 4:30- 8.
  18. I haven't run them yet but will try running a rig slightly longer than my rod and hope to be able to still net a fish if I am lucky enough to stick one and get it close. Thanks for the input guys
  19. Just curious if you guys ever run a fly behind a dipsy only without a flasher in between? I troll out of my kayak and only have a limited amount of leader (8' at most) I can run and still be able to net a fish.
  20. Thanks, good to know. I guess I'll just stick with spring browns out there haha
  21. I have only trolled for salmon out of Henderson and never ventured out that far with my kayak at FH, how many miles straight out from the chute do you hit 100+'?
  22. yeah I'm sure that number is exaggerated, I hear that stuff all the time. Then I say, If no pics then it didn't happen!
