  1. Nice job baller! I wont be able to get out there again until late september after I get back from striper fishing in the Sound. You may not recognize me next year, it looks like I will be upgrading to something with a motor, sadly these shoulders are starting to feel their age
  2. wow nice fish! i wasnt able to get out to the trench all weekend with the kayak, the wind was a little too much but when it layed down yesterday afternoon my arms were no longer up for the long haul so ended up fishing smallmouths for the afternoon. Quite a few boats out there yesterday, gonna have to wait until they move in now and pick on the dark ones.
  3. thanks, very helpful info. I have all Ted 9’s since my 11 is one that doesn’t rattle. For harnesses I will switch to inline weights and try for the suspended fish. Thanks!
  4. on a side note, do you ever have issues with the TDD's? I have 6 or 7 of them and but only 3 of them have rattled out of the box and the paint bubbled up on 2 of the ones that don't rattle. I contacted Rapala and they wouldn't do anything about it without a receipt.
  5. I'm running 36" harnesses off 2 oz bottom bouncers on bottom. I never tried suspending them, not sure if that would work or not. I use the Rap TDD's in the color you told me and when they work they really work just not really often. I run them with 30# braid and a 10' leader of 15# fluoro with 100 - 120' of line out between the 2 rods off the kayak.
  6. Nice job Justin, I was out there Sunday night trolling the East shore but couldn't get anything else but silver bass to bite the harnesses. Did get some nice marks 20-30 down in 40'+ so switched to deep cranks and no luck. I've been struggling on the little "O" this year and may have to try Oneida for the next outing. Keep up the good work, you keep me confident that there are still walleyes in that lake

  8. I believe the one caught last summer out of Oswego by a salmon fisherman was a 50"+ class fish. Obviously was not being targeted but proof that they are out there. I had a good sized one chase my spinnerbait to the canoe years ago in blind sodus bay and also caught a 6" fry on an eggsac one spring steelhead fishing in the SR
  9. i haven't been there in a few years but used to fish for pike at the start of the season in Sodus Bay launching by the bridge from the bait shop and did really well using topwaters and subsurface lures along the weedlines and am sure you would connect often with deceivers or other pike flies.
  10. That's a nice one Justin, that fish is hefty! My fattest 'eye out there was 26" 10 lbs over 20 years ago now. Last week's catfish was my biggest catch out there trolling after 2 outings for the year. Might try to get the kayak out this evening if the weather cooperates. Last weekend had a tiger swim a circle around me staring me down, always love to see them do that with their head right out of the water
  11. There are plenty of good pike fishing spots around here including any of the lake ontario bays along the south shore in the eastern basin
  12. that's awesome. love getting into fish in the kayak without any others around.
  13. Never launched there but the owner of Spanky's Bait once told me I could access right at the cove on the right as you are driving in. Not sure if that is just for winter access or not, in fact I don't even know if Spanky's is even still open for business anymore
  14. love it MrClean I hope to make it out soon, life has been too busy since last fall and hasn't let up to fish since last october. I have a reliable source that has been having great luck for the last 2 weeks, just not in the Fair Haven area yet but many have been large. Should be making their way in soon!
  15. I have been in a pinch like that before many outings. Ebay has been clutch if there is a "buy it now" option. Saw one New Otter Board available when I did a quick search
  16. yeah it was a blast and didn't have to paddle too much against the wind which is always a plus
  17. yep, find the weeds and you'll find perch
  18. North shore is still on fire. Got out for a morning yesterday in my kayak and limited out on perch and walleyes. The eyes are looking very healthy this fall, like footballs
  19. We are blessed with plenty of strong walleye fisheries in NY and only one pacific salmon fishery that also holds plenty of trophy class 'eyes. I'd vote not to disrupt the lakes' fishery, if you want to try for walleyes on Lake Ontario most of us know where to look even though you likely wont fill a stringer unless you fish them exclusively
  20. nice fish, gotta love those Fair Haven sunsets
  21. How late in the day is too late to troll out there? Thinking about going up tomorrow after work around 6 PM for a couple hours
  22. I agree, nice box but the catch is really nice too
  23. 1st I've heard of it as well
  24. If more people tried goose jerky, there'd be a lot more hunting this time of year than salmon fishing. my 2 cents..salmon are definitely addictive though, even if they taste like garbage once they're dark.
