Ive had one seize and crack, blew out while the boat was running, I called my dad, the dude drove 6 hours while I was in the military to help. He made a few small cuts with a small metal blade from the hole in the broken plug outward towards the threads being careful to stop before cutting into the threads. This relieved some of the pressure holding the piece into the head. He then heated the broken piece with a torch and used an easy out to remove it. Pressure was the key here, not applying too much pressure. This info will help if you try to remove it and it breaks. It appears the soaking method is the best bet here. But if it breaks when you try to remove it... here is step 2. Good Luck!!

If people remember correctly, the lampricide treatment was not effective/impossible to conduct two years in a row due to flooding. Not saying that is why there is an issue, but that is why there is a greater issue as far as Eels are concerned. We are now seeing the result of those missed treatments. Seneca has been on the decline, noticeably ever since the 18lb BT won the derby in 2016 and to the "Seneca Fisherman", a few years before that. I have had the same occurrence with eels sticking to my motor/outdrive/hull for at least 3 years now. The DEC is certainly not ignoring the problem, I think we are at the tail end of those missed treatments from 2-3 years ago. As far as the treatments go they (DEC) are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Add that to the 10 other non-related problems Seneca suffers from.

I will say this... we sure have a lot of knowledgeable people here. Nick is producing and so is Roys Boys. Sk8tman always has great info, a perspective that is top notch! Also a lot of people who have seen lakes go through certain cycles! I love Seneca and will never stop fishing it, caught my first fish there.

Fished Seneca for the first time since the derby today, West side Severne to Long Point didnt mark much at all, fished Caywood to Lodi Point and screen was littered with bait balls the whole time. Ended up getting skunked, ran spoons off a rig rod and down-riggers with Dipsey divers and Chinook divers. Praying that Lady Seneca recovers soon!

Try to release them in the water with pliers, this has worked very well for me (Sk8man explained how he does it in a previous post and then i followed suit). I think out of the last 15 fish we have killed one. We real them in slow... I gave up on trying to get pictures, unless I have a slamhog to take home.

Shooters or Hunter Hearing Protection
Never Ends replied to jacksimonton's topic in Hunting Equipment
They also amplify sound up to that decibel cut off point which helps you hear things you would never hear without them, such as squirrels that now sound like deer and snow falling off trees and wind and running water, but most importantly they helped me hear other hunters doing deer drives on public land approaching well before i could ever hear them naturally. -

The Walker Game Ears are the ****. They cut out sound after a certain decibel. I highly recommend them. A little bulky and a little bit of a pain in the ass but it is well worth it (they fit easily into my hunting vest). I spent 9 years as a Sonar Technician on Submarines which allegedly means eventual hearing loss, so i take extra precautions. But the shots pretty much sound like a light "pop". -

Trespassers/thief's suck. I knew a guy who would give you a document (permission slip if you will) in order to hunt his land. If you didnt have a Document, you cant hunt, if you did your good... Solved any and every problem associated with that land, for those who were caught without a document of course... Maybe Cuomo can ban trespassers and institute mandatory hall passes to hunt public land?
