I would think by now , we all should know this fishery is a revenue source for the state . So if the advertisement will bring in more money , that's where the state will invest . And shareholders get the most benefit of that . The advertisement does absolutely nothing ( except insure that the funding we already get keeps coming, and any incoming out of state tax revenue for the general fund ) for resident recreational anglers . I think we as anglers really need to take care of ourselves as best we can . Sometimes I feel the states priorities are not the fisherman's priorities . But my guess is if in fact anglers take it upon themselves to fabricate a barge , it would have to be approved by DEC for a whole bunch of reasons and most likely in my view , not be up to state standards .

I had a conversation with Ron B at Oak Orchard fly shop a few years back about this . With all the dead boats with weeds growing out of , could not one of these be converted into a barge to transport these fish out into the lake late afternoon on release day ? To maybe give them a fighting chance ? And move it up and down the lake to the sights that need it release day . Shouldn't be a hard thing to do . Ive seen the all day buffet for the cormerants at Sandy first hand .

Make sure to use 65# or better 80# braid for fighting chance at the fleas. I like original Power Pro .

Another thing I did. On my probe rigger , I made a 4 ft lead from ball to release so I don't have to swing my boom in to set my line . I have a broom stick with a cup hook on the end . I reach over and grab the lead line and pull it in the boat and set the line and throw it overboard . Works great. Very easy .

I set mine so tight the back of the boat shakes when a good king hits . I figure if a fish hits he either sets the hook good or he was going to get off anyway . I use pinch pad Scotty and offshore and make longer leads from release to ball and I can see the rod shake for small fish .

We have all been fishing long enough to know this happens Wind was howling . And that's never good .

So I took Cornelius advice . I went to bait shop . Guy told me I was bout 3 weeks early . Went to Oregon inlet fishing center . Not a lot of activity there . Was windy as heck . Fished the inlet a while . Got a few hits . No fish . Did a little surf fishing with no results . Water was cold . Very windy and waves crashing . Better luck next time .

I think we are going to the Kitty Hawk / Duck area . We went there last year overnight . We drove down to Hatteras I think and it looked fishy .

So I'm heading down to maybe the outter banks in North Carolina . Was looks my for some info as to Pier or Surf fishing . What I might need rod reel , baits , setup , etc. Thanks

So what are the game wardens supposed to do , run around with a tape measure ? That's absurd . I've caught many fish in fast shallow water I could not see . Besides , that's just where the fish settled out after being drifted down , dying or dead , with the current . And by the looks of some of them , they have been dead a while .

To many times over the years I see guys catch a fish and keep it out of the water for way to long , rolling around in the mud taking pictures and such . Then release them and expect them to make it . In the fall when the water is warm especially bad . Keep them in the water , get the camera ready . Take a pic and revive them . In Florida , it is my understanding you can't take Tarpon out of the water for this reason .
