  1. Only thing I have ever used a rubber band for is to "fix" a slider to a certain depth I want it to run at. Otherwise just get some scotty or offshore pinch style releases and you will be fine.
  2. If it wasn’t for ppl putting up reports I wouldn’t have a clue where to start fishing every time I go out. My question is what are the deciding factors everyone uses to pick their starting spots? Knowing what worked yesterday is far from a sure thing the next day as we all know. Even once the lake sets up what makes you decide to fish the thermocline in 150fow or 300fow?
  3. You can modify the standard OR-12 size boards to pull a 300 copper, but they wont do it as well as the SST boards he pictured above. If you're buying boards specifically for 300 copper I would go with the SST. I have a set myself and they work great.
  4. Search function here is your friend! Every question you have asked has been asked and answered by others. There is so much info on here it is crazy! I watched a lot of YouTube videos when I first started as well, very informative and alot easier to understand when you get to see what they are talking about.
  5. Try being a weekend guy in a smaller boat that can only get out 1-2 times a month and needing the weather to really cooperate on top of that! Not to mention sitting at work all week reading great reports and looking at everyone else's fishing pictures!
  6. If you were closer I would be all over this, I could use a couple extra pages for mine.
  7. So I have been looking for a couple copper setups, convinced a buddy to sell me what I needed. But only way he would sell what I wanted was if I bought the matching pairs from him, so I ended up buying 4 reels when I only needed 2. Both are the older gold versions of the SG47LC one spooled with 300 copper and the other is 250 copper. He told me he used the 32# copper and 30lb braid backing, none of it has ever seen the water. Just a fair warning the 300 copper reel is VERY full, he said once you let it out and reel it back in with some weight on it, it will pack in and be fine. Even if you don't want the copper line, the reels are in very good condition. I will put up some pictures later tonight. I would like to sell these as a pair, $175 shipped
  8. Just about every cleaning station in Pulaski area offers a smoking service during the run. Some will smoke your fish overnight and give it back the next day, some even offer a "trade-in" service where you get an equal amount of smoked fish on the spot. If your prices were competitive and you offered fillet service as well, most places are mobbed with people looking for atleast their fish filleted during the run. Lot of competition in the Salmon River area though. I would think your best bet for summer would be get in with a good size marina and the charter captains there.
  9. That is an option, only problem is as soon as you go over 50ft you will be off again, the further past 50 you go the worse it will be.
  10. Yup, caught a good number of fish on MC rockets. I put herring scent in the resealable bags they come in and just leave them soaking in it. Fat Nancys website had best prices i could find on them.
  11. I guess I’m confused? Why would you need to reset the counter every time? If you’re counter is reading 65 and you really have 80ft our according to the probe than it seems like you have too much cable on the riggers. Keep in mind the counter is based off of spool roatations. Too much cable (aka larger diameter spool) means more is coming off the spool than the counter is set for. Simple fix... remove cable from the spool until the spool diameter is correct(aka factory amount of cable). Measure 100ft out with a tape measure, pull the cable out to that 100ft mark. If your counter reads under 100 that means too much cable. Remove some until your counter reads 100 at the 100ft measured mark. Problem solved
  12. I suppose you could always "tune" your riggers same way you "tune" a linecounter reel. Measure off 100' on your driveway/yard and then pull the cable to that 100' mark and see what the counter says. If your counter is saying 65 when you have 80' out then like everyone said there is too much cable. Which is easy to fix... just remove it in small increments until the 100 on the counter is at your 100' mark in the yard.
  13. I looked at the Amish one too, they have a tube file version as well. It was a little cheaper than the dreamweaver box but I think the Amish one only held like 17 tubes. The dreamweaver one holds 34 tubes and they will fit a rigged fly if you coil up the leader.
  14. I decided I want to add another 300 copper reel to my arsenal... Before I buy everything and make one myself I figured I would check if someone had one they wanted to get rid of.
  15. I looked into packaging options (specifically plastic tubes) and found a few options but most needed to be bought in bulk to make the price worth it. So I bought one of these and it works great, you can store 2 unrigged flies or 1 rigged in each tube and it comes with 34 tubes. Can't beat it for the price imo https://www.fishusa.com/product/Dreamweaver-Tube-File-Tackle-Box
  16. I need two 6” sections of track if anyone has a couple laying around, before I buy new. I could always use longer sections if someone has them too but 2 6” will work. PM me
  17. I went ahead and ordered some SST Pros, I have had very good luck with Offshore's walleye boards so we will see how these work.
  18. Anyone have any experience with either of these boards? I have used the standard size Offshore boards for years and they have always worked great for me. I am looking to get a larger set for longer coppers, the church boards are like $15 cheaper each which is nice but I have 0 experience running any church boards.
  19. You should probably say where you're looking to fish as the reports differ all along the south shore.
  20. Got my doubles yesterday... they look pretty good. My only issue was the packaging, they just put the 2 trees in a big box and shipped them. No bubble wrap or packaging of any kind, now there are marks all over the trees from where they rubbed on each other during shipping. They are just bare aluminum, so they mark up pretty easy. Needless to say I'm disappointed in what I got for the $40 in shipping costs I paid.
  21. I'm pretty new to using a probe myself, but this time of year I look for where the temp levels out. Two weeks ago I had 48 surface and 43 down 70 over 150 fow and deeper than that was all pretty much 42-43. So I set my gear up in the top 70ft. Not sure if that was the right thing to do but we caught fish so I'd say it worked well that day. We started out to 200 fow and I had 47 surface and 43 down 30ft, I didn't think that was good so we moved in to 150 and found what I thought was better water with the temps I mentioned earlier.
