1. just curious the consensus on what brand of copper folks run. I started with opti-tackle then rigged some other rods with bloodrun, both 45#. have to say the bloodrun is the one that consistently gets kinked, fouled up, birds nests on the spool where as opti does not or at least when it does it is easier to fix. Bloodrun feels too soft to me. Thanks for input!
2. perch predator.... 1 quart of white vinegar or did u mean 1 quart of water? i am trying to picture what pickled smoke fish tastes like.
3. i have had some fried salmon that was pretty good. here are my recs: smaller fish, cut into fish stick portions, trim off all fat, etc, rinse and rinse, the final rinse i add lemon juice to water and let fish soak for a few minutes, rinse again. yellow cornmeal seasoned and salted to preference. roll pieces in coating, let coated pieces sit to help it bind to fish. then fry. i prefer small pieces over big because it allows more surface area of coating and flavor, and easier to handle. enjoy
4. the fish will hold together well. i cut filets in 6-8 inch lengths to make handling easier that way they dont break as you lift off of the rack
5. plus you can remove the fat and the smoke/brine penetrates both sides evenly. better taste. imo
6. I have gotten pretty good results mixing golden dipt beer batter with louisiana seasoned fish fry (both at wegmans). I use 50/50 ratio with enough beer to get the right consistency fry in 350-375 oil. its the best of both worlds! This was a big batch of Walleye cut fillets into large fish sticks. It was awesome!
7. How thick was the ice over the 135' fow on Keuka. thanks, Dan
8. just saw this thread... I will definitely keep your wife and family in my thoughts and prayers as well! Just remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease... I work in health care... be persistent! Dan
9. Maybe instead of bow or archery season it can be re-named non-fire arm season. I think we can all agree a crossbow is not a firearm..right?! I can see concern for more hunting pressure in some areas when xbow passes thats the only con i see. Dont we all have to deal with hunting pressure anyway even if its self inflicted! I like to be a successful hunter and put some meat in the freezer. if using an xbow can help me achieve this while saving time off bank for fishing and family time then i look forward to taking advantage of it. Just my 2 cents.
10. interested in lots 11 and 12. I live in penfield and will pick up. i will shoot u a pm.
11. Sandy.... deadzone? Yeah thats right.. no fish there! lol.. i agree it does slow down there as Sept. approaches plus last summers wind didnt help. i am somewhat new to lake O fishing, but i/we missed placing a king by about a 1/2 # (32 and change) during fall derby. i fished places further east with worse results than a bad day at sandy. a great port and cant wait for the shootout!

[Dan]
12. well my buddy brett and I ran into a similar issue. he won a prototype spoon from R&R years back tried to get another but hard to pinpoint the blank because he has so many (we broke off the only one he had) that red dot makes me think R&R something like rootbeer pattern. good luck

Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

14. Great story Brett! She is quite the hunter that is for sure. I saw other pics of that buck and it's big in every photo. Certainly bigger than my city deer in 8c. Corn, beans and alfalfa make a big difference that's for sure. I got a deer recently and in all the excitement nearly left my bow behind. Literally saw it when I was driving away. Look forward to your BBD story! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
15. Do you know of anyone closer to Penfield that tracks deer? ... Just in case! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
16. Funny you should bring up rod holders:) part of the money is going for rod holders.... To hopefully mount on the penn yan intruder that my brother in law is hooking me up with! I am excited about getting a bigger rig especially for lake o, erie, and some of the tourneys I do. Still keeping the Lund though! I will send stewie a pic of all the rod holders. 18. It was endless stop and go with folks on winery tours, etc. and sat thru 3 cycles of light in Watkins trying to go left. Yeah the boat is usually ready to rip during the winter. Actually this is the latest in season I have ever boat fished. Might try some this winter now that I am getting out of snowmobiling! Anyone want a sled and trailer? 19. Damn net guy! Of course the fact that the rod guy wrapped the brownie in the dipsy wire didn't factor in to losing that fish. Lol! just glad it wasn't a 13# brown! That would have stung a bit. I have some mad net skills usually... Remember that king during the Sandy shootout! Congrats on that Laker Sean! Great timing for sure! Look forward to doing more of these! Keep it simple and keep it fun:) Count on Brett and I being late for weigh in though. Who would have figured almost 30 min ride (trailering) from severne to Clute.
