  1. Agreed the paint is crap on stingers sometimes it only takes a couple of fish before the spoon is unrecognizable. B fuller spoons have thee best paint jobs of any spoon I run! As far as bending goes ... I have a stinger mag that was folded nearly in a "v" and I "straightened" as best I could and it still catches fish. It has a real nice wobble now. Go figure. 2. I fished out of sandy on Saturday and I feel your pain and frustration. ( refer to that post for details)We decided we would launch out of the Genny today. We were fortunate to find a mix bag of fish...browns, steelhead and kings. Ended up going 14 for 16 with 8 kings of various size with biggest at 23#. We worked 70-110 fow with most coming in 90. 7 color, dipsey at 160 range, 225, 275 copper and 45-55 rigger all produced. Not really a flasher fly bite. spoons kos, alewife, melon, nk frog, chrome j plug, took most fish. Had a nice steelie put on a brief show then got off, looked in 10# range that hit a blue frog with hammer fly. I am experiencing less flasher fly bites lately and more on spoons. Most spoons I ran were 3-1/4 / nk 28 size not mags.. For what that is worth. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. We did a loop out to 200 briefly and the screen was blank and no hits. One of those days I guess. The 4 footers did not help either. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Laker action in 85-110 fow is all we could find today. Trolled mainly east of shoot then picked up and deployed in front of the nose for a troll back to port. Lakers were east never moved a rod after the move. Boated 1 skipper king on the copper with carbon 14. Saw marks in 50-60 down over 80-120 fow. Not sure what they wanted today. First mature king skunk of season. I think Sandy is mad cuz I cheated on her and fished out of Mexico last week. Lol! I talked to guy at launch and he skunked out too, other boats in sight didn't budge their net from what I could see. Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Yeah...! What cdgn Troller said! Lol! Good going on your fish:) Those 30#+ kings sure do fill up a net. Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Today and last weekend Most of my kings were boated between 12 and 5pm. That being said I will be up at 430am to get on water at first light! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. That has got to be an awesome experience doing that out of a kayak! I hope I see you out there sometime hooked up! It would make for a sweet video ... Have you considered a Gopro? Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Thanks mwolf451 for wave reports. With a north blow what you see helps a ton! Saves me from driving out there and wasting gas and time. I hope tomorrow is calm like they are forecasting! Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Could you motor out a few miles and report the wave conditions too? Lol:) Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. He did take the Bonine but I only had him take 1 instead of 2 thinking the lake was gonna be calm. Ooops! Thanks for help. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. That would make sense based on what I saw! Sure wish it was like it was on Sunday! Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. When I got to the channel I looked back and saw a flat calm lake. Amazing how deceiving it can be out there. I do 90% of fishing on the finger lakes so it is taking me a bit to adjust to lake O. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. the central lake buoy was showing a 2 foot wave this morning and I was experiencing some that seemed bigger. I thought I was at the ocean hearing the waves breaking around me. I would have stayed if not for my boys and wanting them to enjoy the trip. I also had to return to work because my help cx on me. As stated earlier it was more fishable inside of 150 but I had another agenda!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Thanks for the links! I will add to the list of what I check. Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Did it, checked it, triple checked it. Still wrong! Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. My older son is evidently more prone to the sea sick deal. Sadly he has been on lake O only 3 times this year and all have ended early cuz of chumming and the only trip last year ended early because of a nasty storm that came in unexpectedly. I hate it for him because he has yet to enjoy the thrills of lake O fishing! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Got blown off this morning! Not sure which report to believe anymore. I listened to NOAA while on the water and it was stated to be blowin around 5-8 out of sw. Well the white caps and big rollers seemingly out of the west led me to question the validity of the report, that and my barfing 12 year old. Me and my 17.5' Lund tucked our tail and headed in. Super calm near shore but that isn't where the fish are!! Gotta find one that is 32.06 to beat My buddy Brett! Lol Better luck next time! Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. We had a number of good gopro moments including some ill coordinated moves with the net!!! Under the fish... Under the fish!!! Not poke the fish!!lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Started the day in shallow with marks on the screen but just small fish in the 100 foot range. Decided that going deep was our best chance of hooking into some better fish. Basically from 200+ it was game on! We boated over 20 fish being a mix of steelies and kings. Our biggest came on a double with one on wire and one on copper. The wire was 30# and copper 32#! First time I ever boated a king that big. Lake O fishing is awesome! Ran mix of stingers, echip/spinny and fly combos in Chrome green and white/dew flashers with green flies. Boated those two at around 2-230pm with flat lake and bright sun ....expect the unexpected!!! Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Not the day I was hoping for primarily because of the wind ( that was W/NW not south). Anyway finally dropped gear in around 150 fow before I finish setting second rigger I see the other has released. Get on it and the drag is singing! Passed to my son that was already feeling sea sick. After a decent battle I netted a nice king at 20#. I finish setting my 5-6 rod spread and trolled to sodus. Didn't move a rod other than to switch out gear. Pulled gear at 1030 or so after my son got sick. Rollers at 1-3 ft on the way in made for a bumpy ride. Not sure what to do tomorrow? Anyone have suggestions? King hit a mtn dew glow/dew tape spinny with hammer fly. All of my flys are rigged with 22-24 leader should I scrap these and put on longer? Thanks, Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Good going! I bet that gets crazy netting a 20+ king solo. I had a game plan ready to fish this a.m but my fair weather crew lacked interest in dealing with rain...off to work for me. I am gonna try my borrowed hand held radio again and see how it works! I hope to get out next week. Still trying to get my 2 boys(9&11) into a big king! 23. Things were set up on the inside last year from what I have gathered and experienced the times I went out. I hope we all catch a break with the winds over the next month! Dan Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. I am new to lake o fishing and have managed to pick up kings on most trips when in 200 or less. For me inside of 200 feels safer since I am in an 18 ft boat. When calm should I always go deep? A couple weeks ago the fishing was great in 100-120 fow out of sandy. How do you when to be shallow vs deep. Other then fishing more often which is hard with work, etc. thanks for input! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. I ran a mag moonshine in white green dot silver back .. No takers. It was on a 50-70 rigger... Gander lander what sort of info? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
