  1. Yes there was. I saw that on a couple of videos so I made sure the slack was there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I bought a couple Off Shore SST pro mag side planers and ran them on Sunday. Hooked one onto my 200 copper and it did great. Hooked the other to my 400 copper and it would barely plane at all. It was a little rough (~3ftrs max) but I thought these particular boards were able to handle 400's with ease! Anybody else have this issue and do you use a different board for 400+ coppers?
  3. I've had issues with service from Cannon as well. Good luck.
  4. Not to get too far off topic but I've been thinking of getting a Fish Hawk for next season but after seeing posts like this and talking with other fishermen who have trouble with their units I am not sure its worth the money. I understand that they have excellent customer service but when I buy a product I just want it to do what its supposed to without all the headaches. Are there any other good options on the market or is Fish Hawk pretty much as good as it gets?
  5. I had the handle grip come off in my hand on both of my manual downriggers. The first time I just ordered the replacement. The second time I called customer service and complained. I had to argue with the representative to have them send me a replacement and they told me it would be 2 weeks for it to arrive. I had to cover the expense to have it shipped out quickly so I could use it on an upcoming trip. I was not pleased. I am likely going to purchase electric riggers over the winter and they will probably not be Cannons based on my experience.
  6. Glad it's picking up. We had a real tough day friday. Fished 5;30 AM to 2ish pm with zip. Covered 20 to 120 feet in every presentation your can think of. Marked a ton of fish and bait but nothing would bite.
  7. I had a good experience with this charter but it may be a little far away from Myrtle. Ranger bay boat put us on flounder on the intercoastal and then fished the breakwall for reds and even hooked a couple good sized shark. https://www.captainjot.com/
  8. Im new to copper and was wondering if anyone runs this stuff? I have some blood run on the way but this stuff is a little cheaper so I thought I would ask. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. We had heard rumors that guys were finding browns in 25fow so we pounded that area as well as the 6-15 range. Went right over 50 feet to go offshore for lakers...didn't think to look for browns there. Glad the kings are showing up!!
  10. Had another tough day searching for browns in the Mexico area on Friday. Marked enough fish to keep us chasing for a long time but no takers. Gave up eventually and headed out for lakers but they weren’t hungry either. Very inconsistent bite for us this year. Did manage one trophy that got us laughing though!! 11. The salmon was mixed in with the browns in about 10ft of water. We think it was a Coho.
  12. Fishing out of Catfish creek. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Had a good bite Saturday morning until around noon. Stingers with chartreuse patterns was our best bait. Took a burger break and came back out a couple hours later. The lake was laying down and so was the bite. Managed one more and then quit for the day. Sunday morning dawned with steel grey skies and light drizzle, in other words it looked really fishy! We washed lures for a few hours without moving a rod and headed home. Wonder where they went?
  14. Thanks a lot...you just cost me a bunch of money!
  15. Fished out of there this weekend. 21.5 trophy didn’t have any issues and there were some larger boats going through. Call the Wally who runs a charter boat there and Im sure he could be more specific. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Thanks to Hachimos tips we got into the lakers this morning. 175 fow west troll from plant. 8/10 hitting bells with peanuts and spin and glows. Stacked williams wobbler did well also. 10 ft over the bells Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Thanks Hachimo. We struck out on browns then headed out to 100 fow in front of the plant. Picked up a couple lakers but couldnt find any after about noon. Took a break them went back out around 4 but the bugs drove us off the lake. Try again in the morning Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I'll be fishing out of Mexico/Oswego this weekend and am hearing that the Brown fishing is tough right now so I'm wondering what's the best plan to target Lakers if we can't get the Browns to cooperate? I was thinking about 70 fow using spin and glows on the bottom. Is there a spoon bite as well? Any advice would be appreciated.
  19. Wrights Landing in Oswego will be opening June 1st.
  20. As of this morning still no docks at Mexico.
  21. Take a look at Tracker. I have a V18 Targa I bought in new in 2014. Came with a Verado 150. It fishes great in regular sized lakes (Lake George) but you do have to pick your days on some bigger water that is more prone to blowing up in the wind (Ontario, Champlain). Wide beam (101") and plenty of storage but it gets cramped with more than three guys. Top speed about 40mph. I bought rod holders, rigger mounts and bimini as well...all in about 36K. I even managed to convince my wife that it ia a family boat because it came with a screw in pole for water skiing! That hasn't been used yet
  22. Reading through the forum I notice a lot of scattered information on the launches we all use. Driving three hours to find out you can not launch your boat really sucks so I thought this could be a place for people to keep track of launch conditions. I have friends fishing out of Mexico tomorrow so I can update that location then. Good luck to all this season and thanks for the updates in advance.
