Hi all. I’m an eastern basin fisherman primarily Oswego to Henderson. Never been on the west end of lake and taking family on a “scouting mission” this weekend launching out of 18mile creek. Not looking for handouts or anyone’s secret spots, just trying to get my 5yr old his first salmon as it hasn’t been that great on Eastern end of lake yet. Any generic advice or tips for this section of lake O would be appreciated. Thanks

No one helps on this lake. We are from out of town so take it for what it’s worth but usually come out of River and fish 80’ on out typically slightly west by the red barn.  Just have to troll around and see what u can find. Many have had success slightly east by the microwave tower. In the same depths. It usually seems like the charters come out and troll north northwest then turn around and come back.

Thanks very much. Fishing was definitely slow yesterday but we found some steelhead in 250 FOW heading over towards Wilson. I talk to a few captains and locals at the marina who were super friendly and just let me know so far this year it’s been a grind! My 5yr old got fight his first good size chromer and that in and of itself made the trip fantastic. Good luck to all as we get into July. Hopefully it starts to heat up!

That look like a coho and is what most are catching out there. Important to be able to identify between the two similar looking fish because each has different size and creel limits. One good way is to look at the tail. If there are spots all over the tail- trout. If there are only spots on the upper, dorsal half of the tail- coho. Great job introducing a new young angler to the sport!
