During the month of August we are treated to a progression of 7 planets on parade across the night sky from sunset to just after sunrise. Sunset, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Jupiter, Venus & Mercury. All coming up in the Eastern horrizon. Here are Venus and Mercury at sunrise, Lake Ontario. We launched at 5:30 AM and finished at 11:30 AM with a six box limit of Chinook Salmon and Steelhead. Finished the day 8/12 having sacrificed quantity over quality. These fillets will be the perfect accompaniment for the pot luck church dinner tomorrow after service.

Great trip, thanks for the report. I haven’t even been on the lake yet this year but hoping to transition my gear from finger lakes to big lake fishing this weekend. The color of those fillets look promising.  How do you cook your salmon? I still haven’t found a way to enjoy them besides smoking.

I don't, my wife cooks it. She'll often fry it in a cast iron pan using a little olive oil, spices and sautéed veggies like tomatoes, green onion, parsley and lemon.
