jigging jig weight question ?

How deep in calmer seas can you fish a 1oz salmon jigging spoon? thanks

I hear you but my rod is only rated to 5/8 oz, medium spinning rod

Doesn’t matter. You aren’t casting you’re jigging.  My son uses one lighter with 8lb test

The weight isn't as important as having the patience to let the spoon down to where you want to fish, but that's just my opinion!

 

The best jigging spoon I've found for salmon is the cast master in metallic green and chrome, and the metallic blue and chrome, with the blue being the best of the two!
