Out of Sandy 8/4 solo

I left the dock around 9 am and went out to 60 feet where I set up. The thermocline was quite stable around 65 down, which I had not expected after yesterday's weather. The marks and the bait was all around 50 to 80 foot down and the fish were active between 70 foot to 120 foot They did not want meat or flasher flies, but they did go after the spoons. Ice frog magnum, bloody nose magnum and blue dolphin all got hit. A few 20 plus pounder kings, a 16 pound steely and a 10 pound atlantic . So I bagged one big king, the Atlantic and the steelie. The rest went back . Amazingly the big kings, although  they fought very hard all swam away and down after they were released. Maybe that is because I removed the barbs from the hooks.

In the end between 9.30 am and 1pm I boarded 5 kings (4 went back in the water) 1 nice atlantic and this huge steelhead. 3 hits with nobody home and 3 got away , 2 of which were because of doubles and the barbless hooks. 

The extra fun for me, was that I did most of it on a fifteen pound line on my new coldwater okuma, which I had never used before. (It was supposed to be for browns)
