DEC journal

Over the last year or so I've seen some of you post about keeping a journal for the DEC. Can anyone give me some info on this? I think I'd like to participate this year.

This is well worth doing.

For region eight lakes call the DEC at 585 226-5343.

For region seven lakes call the DEC at 607 753-3095 ext. 213.

I think I found an email on the NYS DEC website or I got an email from them looking for people to keep journals in the early spring of 2009. It was pretty easy, keep some info on your trip even if you got skunked. November or December the DEC mails out n envelope for you to mail it back. I think they are suppose to mail you back a report for the lake you kept a journal on.

Dad and I have been keeping records on Seneca and Canandaigua for a long time. The feedback from the DEC is great . Alot of stocking info comes from these records and is a great way to help the fishery!

Very worthwhile, You supply the DEC with important info for stocking and other purposes and you also recieve some good info back on the catch rates and a few other things of interest.
