What a weekend for the Spoonfed Team. Captain Glen took the crew out Thursday to pre-fish east. The reports were not that hot so when I joined up with my team Friday we went west. We found a few fish first thing but nothing we felt good about working for 2 more days. So around 7:30 we picked up and went to deeper water. After setting up in 300+ the fish started smacking our offerings. We had found the fish! It was a pretty nice pod of very large steelies and the odd king mixed in. These steelies were beauties - 8-14 lbs. and fat as they could be! We went back in feeling very good about the Pro-Am

Ah yes, then comes Mother Nature on Saturday  Like a lot of other teams the blow on Saturday really messed up the fish. The early bite was the key and we couldn't take full advantage because we ran too far before we set up. We did manage a king and a steelie before the waves started rocking, but it absolutely shut down our area. It was pretty barren out there. :( We did manage a third fish mid morning, but he was all alone and with a 1.5 hour ride back against the wind and waves we were done. Ended day 1 with 3 fish and sitting in 6th place.

Sunday we were faced with a decision to go back to our Friday hot spot hoping they returned, or just search around to try and find a concentration of fish to work. We knew the wind might have the fish scattered and it could be a tough day. We were right. Committing to the Friday area, we motored out west again and set up. Our school of big steelies were gone, but we picked away here and there with some other fish and came away with a box of 7. 4 kings and 3 steelies, nothing of size, but keepers in the box so we were happy. We did catch quite a few skippers which was frustrating as that would have more than filled the box, but back in they went. :@

It was a beautiful day to fish sunday and we had a great time, fished really hard and did about all we could do with what we had. We just did not come across any concentration of fish we could work over. When we had them under the boat, Captain Glen would get 'em! We ended the tourney just out of the money, but day 1 really killed us from the start. Spoons were the bite for us and like many others we worked mostly the top of the water column down to 70 ft.

It was great to see all of the teams and meet some new guys too. Thanks to the observers and volunteers!

Snoring!!!???

Thought he had a dam chainsaw in the room with him.

Richards a great guy to have along on a trip and the team, Rodney and Alan did a great job out there.

Capt. sucked as I didn't put us on enough quality fish to win the thing.

Glen
