Volunteering with the DEC

With all the budget cuts that are happening all over NY,I would like to help out and volunteer in a Hatchery or some other sports fishing related activity that is in danger of being cut out of the budget.

Does any of you good people know of a way to get in touch with any type of volunteering for the DEC?

Its not with the DEC but they are usually looking for help with the Pen Rearing projects and all of the contact info. is right hear on this page.What better way to help out. If I lived closer I know I would help.

Operating a hatchery could fail because a couple days the "volunteers" do not show up and everything worked and paid for would go down the drain.

That is true,but I would happily empty the garbage cans just so the professionals don't have to be bogged down by the daily nitty gritty and instead can concentrate their efforts on the highly sensitive work that they are capable of doing.
