Mold in cuddy

I took the cover off my boat and noticed there is dark stains in the carpet inside my cuddy which I am assuming is mold. Does anyone have an idea for removing the moldy stains?

I used carpet cleaner with scrub brush and shop vac to extract the soap. I also found using those moisture absorbing canisters prevented it. But to be honest maybe the warm temps this winter allowed the mold to show up more than normal?

Great question . I just asked the same question to the folks at the factory where my boat was built. The carpet does not hold up to well to scrubbing on the side walls of my pilot house or most boats with carpet in the cabin so you can’t get on it with a scrub brush. They say the best thing to use is a carpet cleaner like you would rent from a grocery store. Then you just add the upholstery attachment and clean all of the carpet. I am going to give it a try this weekend if we are going to have some dry weather.

Thanks guys for your input! I think I am going to try the Star Bright and then use a carpet steam cleaner to complete the cleaning.
