Who is under Cabela's contract to manufacture their reels?

Recommended Posts

The ones I'm eyeballing, are Deapthmaster Metal DMM30's.

One piece aluminum frame

Aluminum spool

S/S ball and roller bear drive system

5 holes machined into the frame below the counter.

I will never buy any Cabelas brand reel again. Few years ago bought 6 depthmaster gold reels.

All 6 broke,3on first trip on browns.

The other 3 just reeling in spoons

I buy Okuma Catalina or Shimano Tekota. No regrets!

Hey Gill T order  power handles from Tunastroubles they are pretty sturdy and you gain a bit in cranking ability. They are about $20 but I think worth it.

I replaced the handles after the first time I used them.....6 years ago. Reels still working as leadcore reels. The handle replacements were stainless T-handles....and I think Okuma might of actually referred me to Tuna back then. I will also add the line counters on convectors are CRAP.

Isn't it something that they don't even do their homework on these reels before releasing them for sale. I had a Convector right out of the box that the drag didn't engage....my buddy had trouble with his Clarion out of the box too.
