if it was used in saltwater does that mean anything? like should i stay away from it because of the salt water and let the deal pass? the guy said it was used a few times in saltwater and that he flushed it after he used it but do i believe him? or in saltwater it dont hurt them? thx guys!

Flushing with fresh water after EACH use is mandatory to prevent internal corrosion you can't see.

Suggest you check the sacrificial annodes for signs of deterioration/corrosion. If the're going bad, so is the inside of the engine.

Suggest a test ride is in order, not running it in a tank or with pig-tails.

Find out where the guy lives or lived. If it is very close to the brine,chances are that it has been in salt water a lot. I would not worry too much about, but is a good reason to get price down by a hundred or 2. You must make sure that the lower unit is not leaking ,because salty water in the gear box is deadly.
