Waleye Run

I stopped at Rossie to view the spawning walleyes that run up from Black Lake. They said last week they were flopping out onto the bank. There is a DEC officer there 24/7. He thought the run would be good on Monday with the warmer weather. We only saw a few with the high cold water.

Maybe the poachers got em all last year. I know they busted some guys there poaching walleyes at Rossie last year thus the 24/7 patrol. There seems to be alot of poachers in the north country from what I have seen, read, and heard for both hunting and fishing. Not sure why.

So are you thinking they are still staging?  My buddies and I always fish the opener in Chaumont and generally do pretty well but if they aren't in the streams yet that is definitely not a good sign.
