Internal GPS

I was thinking of buying a new sonar/gps with the build in antenna.

do you think i will have any trouble locking onto satellites through the Bimini top?

I figure if the one in my car works then the one on boat should work ok.

any info would be great...

Moto,we just bought a Garmin 376C and had no trouble locking from inside our house.You should be fine.....Zeke(Strike 3)

I agree with Zeke, no problem with an internal antenna on a GPS. I have the Garmin 162 in my hardtop for 5 years now and it works just fine.

I run a lowrance handheld unit with a built in antenna as my secondary unit. It is mounted under a hardtop. I will lose my position with it when there is heavy cloud cover and rain.

The external antenna I have is for Wide Area AS. It is more accurate and will help you return to small spots.
