Last season our power cord went bad. No voltage at the plug so we had nothing. Replaced the power cord and worked great the rest of the season.

If you plug it in and turn your boat battery on then you should see the decimal point in the temperature reading. If you dont see that then check your power connections, or you might have a bad display unit. If you see the decimal point then put the probe in a bucket of water and see if you are reading the temp, you can also spin the wheel with your finger and see if you read speed. If you dont then check your terminations, the 9V battery in the probe, or check for rusty connection at your RCA cable to probe. If you get readings in the bucket but loose them when you start putting the probe down deeper in the water then check your coated cable for bare spots.

 

I was having problems loosing the signal and wound up replacing the RCA cable with this:

so far it is working perfect again.
