  9. Took the day Friday to get the weekend started, had high expectations, as the weather was wonderful.....but other than some non targeted toothy critters and a couple lakers, the temp left my area and so did the fish......washed lures all day to no avail.....came across a school of stripes before dark and got a few but even they were tight lipped. Saturday started with crazy wind that only got worse as the day went on......whats new.........by noon, only had a couple rips, one nice brown that broke us at the net. Took a break and went back out solo in winds definitely blowing 20, kept searching and finally found a seam with 47 degree water that increased to 49..........2 of my 3 rods went off....found the spot that was about a 10 minute troll in that wind. Small pocket of temp that held, browns, bullhead, rainbows, pike, and lakers. Great fish of the day was a huge pike, hell of a fight, thought it was a huge brown as it took long runs, swallowed my stick, was careful to get it out and she released great. Silvers were steady, but average, and lakers small to medium. Bullheads were a great suprise, truly a mixed bag, boat control tough, even with a trolling motor, I found myself picking up, motoring back and short trolling the pocket. Firetiger was a great color, but blk/silver still good. Pulled the boat Saturday evening as I was exhausted, wind burnt and had to install a new bilge pump. I'm sure it would've been epic today and i hope folks did well. I took a walk for some heads instead and got blessed with a beauty! Great end to the weekend. Tight lines.
  10. My bow mounted trolling motor causes a crazy amount of interference with my Garmin Echomap. I have to turn the gain way down to get some clarity but was wondering if any one has any tips to help limit the inference. The pic is when I was using my trolling motor to move and then when I stopped.
  11. I’m looking for a couple pairs of offshore or 12’s if anyone has any there selling
  12. Heading for the annual Wilson weekend coming up. Just a rec guy willing to share info if you want PM me! I think we had 7 boats last year from MI, OH, PA and NY connected
  13. They had a weather delayed start so weigh-in didn’t start until 4:30. Go to king of the lake and they will post on their facebook page at some point.
  14. Anybody have any experience with a good captain from the CB ? thanks Dan
  15. Tough with the waves/wind with a hard East wind coming in around 9AM but found 20 FOW to be best with baits near the bottom (so much for the forecast). Some nice browns with a couple of kings we did not boat. One off a deep diver larger fire tiger that was probably running 15 feet down over 23 FOW that cracked off the planer boards which was pretty cool and one off a spoon right off the bottom in 21 FOW that ran out 200 feet then doubled back towards the boat and shook off the lure. Tried Bodine sea sickness pill for the first time and was amazed, worked great and no side affects. Going to buy a bunch of those...
  16. John Mann Sodus Bay….I drove 4 hours. Well worth it. Tell him McCoy sent you.
  17. With the breasts we cut cross grain medallions and marinate and grill. I also slice with grain and make jerky, very good. if he doesn’t respond to your thread pm Kevin Legg on the site. Guy knows what to do with all of it. Good luck.
  18. Good for you! I love browns. Fishing for big browns to me is like deer hunting. Pretty cool, good luck.
  19. Before we get there, now is a good time to plan what to do with one before we bag it. Still haven’t shot one yet but the flock showing up in my field every day is getting my hopes up. They always seem to disappear on opening day but just in case, what are your favorite ways to prepare wild turkey?
