  1. A couple of the charters out of P-ville are: Joe Pastore - Set-N-Ready Sportfishing Jerry Snyder of Dandy Eye;s.
  2. Saturday: It felt great to be back after it this morning! We pulled out of the harbor in the fog and fished in it the entire morning. Lady O greeted us with some healthy rollers from the NE, but she flattened out as the morning rolled on. Water temps ranged from 37-39*. Fishing was good. We found a great mix of year classes, which is a good thing after last Spring. A typical Spring Brown Trout spread was deployed. We ran 6 flat lined sticks behind Off Shore Tackle Company OR12 inline boards anywhere from 70-120' back. Our Cannon Downriggers fished spoons down 5' with 30' leads. Lastly, the Chinook Divers pulled spoons back 10'. Both natural and colored lures caught them this morning as we trolled in and out of dirty and clean water pockets. Our top producers, however, were Bay Rat Lures SS in Ayu and Can't Afford It. Our best spoons were UV Green Jeans SS and Bay Rat's 3.5 in Black Flash. Sunday: I'm ready for 80's and ! One picture is all we need to sum up today. This father and son team joined us from Utica, NY and they were faced with some miserable weather. It was cloudy, windy, and rainy, but they hung in there. The reward was quality Spring Brown Trout, and memories that will last a lifetime. Bay Rat S3's were today's baits of choice. Ayu, Black/Gold/Orange, and Jail Bird were our best colors. They were run 50-90' behind our Offshore OR12 inline boards. Chinook Divers out 10-12' only took a couple fish, but they were our biggest fish of the day. A Black Flash Bay Rat 3.5 spoon was our best behind those divers.
  3. We've got April 23rd and 24th available fishing from Shumway marina on the Genesee. You can click on the links below to visit our website for pricing, and our social media outlets to follow our fish catches starting in a few weeks.
  4. Are you not afraid of get cross talk between the transducer on the transom and whatever other transducer you're using for when the boat is running? Yes, mounting a transducer on a twin inboard boat can be done. Usually, guys put them in the center of the boat.
  5. I'd buy the transducer before I buy a new unit. It'll be cheaper.
  6. We exclusively use Dreamweaver swivels. Size 2 on our spoon rods, 3 on our flasher rods, and I believe we run the size 4 on our wires.
  7. Don't do it! The less those fish get hooked in the tribs the better they'll fight in the lake.
  8. Ya, if you had 83khz, which comes on the Sonar/GPS models (not SI or DI models), we wouldn't be having this conversation. A lot of guys buy the DI models becasue they are cheaper, or places blow them out at special prices. My recommendation is to pick up an Airmar P66 if you want a transom mount transducer, or a B60 if you want a thru-hull transducer. Use 50khz when trolling, and 200khz while on plane. Losing bottom with 200khz sounds more like an improper install more than anything.
  9. I've seen a lot of DI units not offer a medium frequency option. If that's the case with yours I'd assume you've only ever ran it on 2000khz or high chirp? My recommendation is to go with an Airmar P66. It's a transom mount transducer with 50 and 200 kilohertz. You would use 200khz when running out in the morning to look for bait, and when you settle in to fish switch over to the 50khz. I sold out of these transducers, but I think I have 2 on the way this week. I'm at Krenzer marine, and live in Webster if this is something you want to grab.
  10. Another question I had is about the strain that certain species put on the Alewife population. In tough years, like most of the lake experienced last season, A LOT of Lake Trout get taken out of the system. At what point does this decrease in bottom vacuums help us to get those Alewife numbers rebounding? Does it even help?
  11. The owner at the Wilson Boat Yard launches all his boats at Tuscarora state park. I know he launches boats up to 38' on a Hydraulic trailer there.
  12. There are two times on the lake when you can target Coho. May in Niagara county fishing the top 25'. Here are some baits we use on flat lines and short cores (up to 5 colors). Brads Thin Fish - The red colored ones all work. 6" DW Spin Doctors - Orange, Red, and Yellow all have their days pulling 2" peanut or Coho flies. DW Super Slim - Orange Slurpee is my favorite, but other orange colored spoons will do the job. September in front of the Salmon River. I've never done it, but from what I gather it's a flasher/fly bite and the fish are bigger.
  13. I'm not saying to switch, or hoard up the stuff that's available. BUT.....don't ever go out on the water without some fake strips in the boat. They will save you if you leave the real stuff at home, or run out of real strips on a stellar day. Two companies we use and have good success with are: SOCO Deep Rig Tackle
  14. I'm interested in understanding how certain baitfish provide more, or better, nutrients to prey than others. For example, if Smelt are more nutritious that Alewife what can we do to provide better spawning habitats, or increase Smelt survival in the Lake. Smelt rule the roost in Lake Erie from what I understand, and we're just downstream from that. I'm also interested in how Smelt and Alewife interact with each other. Where do they live in comparison? Can we have both as a sustainable baitfish option, or is it one or the other? Other topics : How do we educate Salmon to eat Bloaters Caledonia
  15. Great video, but you do know downrigger depths have to end in a 0 or a 5 to catch fish.
  16. Yes you can see it on all the Optimum's if they are connected.
  17. Check out a video we made explaining our go to spoons on Lake Ontario. You can find them over at FishUSA by clicking here - Trolling Spoons

  18. Not a problem. Let me know.
  19. I have the original boxes that I will ship them in. Per UPS it's $52/package.
  20. Yes, I'll try to get you an idea of cost tomorrow
  21. I'm selling 2 Cannon Optimum downriggers that we ran last season on Lake Ontario. We cycle through a new set each season, and the new ones are here. We're selling last years downriggers for $1000ea with buyer picking them up in the Rochester-Sodus area. The body of the downrigger is really the only thing that was used. We have our own booms, spools, rod holders, bases and swivel bases.
  22. Yes, we run Offshore in-lines off both of our charter boats. You can run them many different ways. I'll try to hit it high level below. Spring BT fishing or offshore surface fishing - Furthest board from the boat is the longest lead and they get shorter as they get closer. For BT we typically run the outside board at 120' and come in 20' increments with each board. Separating the in-lines by 50'. This takes calibrated line counter reels to accomplish. Offshore fishing many parts of the water column is done by putting the lines running the highest in the water column the furthest from the boat. So, lets take a 5 color, 10 color, and a 350 copper. The 5 color would be the shortest length of line out, but furthest from the boat. The 350 copper is the the deepest running rig and longest behind the board, but closest to the boat. In essence making a "V" pattern. If you ever want an on the water instructional lesson I could offer that in my Lund on weeknights in the Sodus/Rochester area.
  23. I have ECHOMAP 73sv, GPSMAP 743xsv, and GPSMAP 943xsv's at Krenzer Marine in stock as well as PS30 transducers. If you never plan to run radar you can stick with the ECHOMAP series. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. If you truly don't want it for anything but to run the PS30 you cold go ECHOMAP 72/92sv. These have basemaps and no transducer. I can get those.
