  3. The way I read it. It's all NYS waters Similar seasonal requirements for wearing personal flotation devices apply to canoes and kayaks in Massachusetts and to all manually propelled vessels, including rowboats, in Connecticut. The New York law is broader, affecting all pleasure craft, including small sailboats and motorboats, according to the state Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
  4. C & P from the Post Standard It's been a good CNY fall for getting fish eggs By David Figura/The Post-Standard October 25, 2009, 12:23AM It’s been a good fall for collecting eggs — salmon and lake trout eggs, that is. Each fall, the state Department of Conservation Region 7 collects chinook and coho salmon eggs from the Salmon River, as well as lake trout from Cayuga Lake, according to Dan Bishop, regional fisheries manager for the region. The eggs are sanitized, fertilized and then hatched and allowed to grow at one of two state hatcheries. The salmon fingerlings are eventually stocked in Lake Ontario tributaries, while the lake trout — the so-called Finger Lakes strain — are put into Cayuga and Owasco lakes, along with a few lakes in the western part of the state. Bishop said workers up at the Salmon River Hatchery in Altmar began collecting chinook salmon eggs on Oct. 8 and finished by Oct. 14. The fish swim right up to the hatchery. The males and females, which die naturally after spawning, are taken in, quickly euthanized and then stripped of eggs and sperm. This year, workers reported taking in 3.34 million eggs. Hatchery workers began collecting coho salmon eggs on Oct. 15 and finished up this past Tuesday. A total of 1.8 million eggs were taken in. In contrast to the chinooks, the cohos are release back into the river, Bishop said. Meanwhile, earlier this month, DEC workers on Cayuga Lake took in about a half million lake trout eggs during a three-day period. They used gill nets to capture the fish, which were stripped of eggs and sperm right on the boat. The fish were then released back into the water. The eggs get fertilized in containers right on the boat and then were taken back to the DEC-run hatchery in Bath, where they’ll be raised for about a year before their release.
  5. The black epoxy in question is called Marine-Tex and yes, depending on the location and prep work as Jack stated above it can & does work out well in some situations as long as you are sure you only have an external leak. Make sure this time of year especially to adhere by the recommended temperature usage in the instructions. The warmer the ambient temp. the better the bonding.
  6. Way ta go Coup
  7. No reason to pull the vhf as long as it's out of the elements. Pumps yes. pull the feed hose from the thru-hull, turn them on and run r/v antifreeze thru them.
  8. Great report & pics. Stan.
  9. Refill it Tim. If the fluid in it now is in good shape ( no milk color ) leave it in till the spring when you change out the pump. Worst thing to do is leave it empty over the winter. Potential condensation build-up can cause problems in the long run.

  17. I've seen you posting about this on other forums as-well with limited success. It might pay to call a few dealers and ask for the information, if per say you do need the capacity and not just the over-all weight of the boat & engine as Splitshot said above, to register it in Pa.
  18. Andy the channel should be ok for now as it was cleaned up this last Saturday. But the wind there talking for the rest of this week might change that. As Jim said above the fishing the past few weeks has been relatively slow.
  19. Um: I think I know Bob Have a good season & shoot a few Andy
  20. Welcome aboard Jerry.
  21. If it's equipped with battery isolators take a close look in that direction as well as possibly the on-board charger it self if it's still hooked up, for feed back.
  22. If the gimbal bearing or u-joints are in question there's usually a reason for it ( IE: leaking bellows or engine alignment ). If a gimbal bearing is greased and the outdrive serviced at regular intervals they normally don't go bad with out a reason behind it. That being said it expense to repair it would be a guess until the drive is pulled.
  23. Great job John and thumbs up to the young one's. They'll remember it for a life time.
