Proper distance behind the balls?
Richard replied to Low Baller's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I run leads 10 to 25 feet. But that is just me. different things work for different people. Some form of white paddle (or white with green) with a white or green fly right on the bottom. -

price on riggers and cv30 please.

I tie the wire right to the reel. a couple wraps of duct tape to hold the creeping and reel wire on till full. No backing really required if you have the 5000 foot spool. I always feel less knots are better.

Water Fleas Concetration In Mexico bay
Richard replied to mikerp's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I had some on my 20# line but the 30# was fine. Not too bad thought. The only one that gave me a problem was one line that was down for a long time before changing up a lure. -
Love mine but do get a survey.

Weight is on the side closest to the boat

I am thinking low voltage. More than likely due to a bad / weak connection somewhere. Low voltage would make them slow and trip breaker due to high current to make up for the low voltage.

That is a much older model. In my eyes only worth the $150 you stated. Sell the base independently. I am actually looking for one but I am in Massachusetts. We only use eight pound weights on the cape. I have the HS and STX model for the big lake when I use the 13# torpedoes due to depth and blow back. Good luck with your decision.

Church tackle walleye boards
Richard replied to phil2's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I pull 400 copper with them without issue. Yes it may not go as far to the side as with mono or lighter lines, but it does work fine. -
Leave it out slightly so it contacts the cable
-
You should not need to pull it out of the two holes holding it. just unwind the coated wire to the end and with the edge of a butter knife, scrape one side of the coating till it becomes loose from the wire then just pull it off. I scrapped off about three feet of coating which was about three revolutions of the spool. That gave me enough to contact the set screw twice. Also as stated above, your board could be bad and you can check it with a meter as he described. as for the clincher end, if your moor is working correctly I think you should be okay at that end. I have a ring that is through bolted to the clip that I attach my speed sensor to.

As stated above. Bare cable needs to be on the spool and in contact with the set screw on plastic spools.

trolling spoons with a fixed slider
Richard replied to Ohreelyfishing's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
A mup rig is a mag spoon five/six feet above and forward of a standard size spoon on the main line off the ball. Therefor the lower smaller spoon would be about 14 feet back with a fixed Chester mag spoon on an eight foot leader. The idea is that the larger spoon would attract the fish and when they fat back they will notice the smaller more enticing pray lagging behind and hit it. -
I have done that for the last year and a half on one side of the boat. I have not had great results. I had only had one day which it did okay. Other than that one day I feel it did less the the other side without the lake troll. Like any other presentation it has its days and maybe just its time of day. Let the fish tell you what they want. Good luck and tight lines

Top is hollow. I did similar as mudflat. my rocket launcher is removable and attached to two trax tech six inch tracks.

SOG= Speed over ground or the speed on your GPS. STW= Speed through water or the speed indicated by your speedometer and or your down probe. Both are different speeds. All three are very different speeds. The most important speed is the one at the ball given by your down probe. When discussing speeds you should always indicate the source so someone can help you. I have been travelling 3.7mph at the surface, 2.7mph at the ball and 1.5 mph over ground due to wind and currents.
