  1. If you did not read twelve volts at the plug, you have a break in the line somewhere. Check for twelve volts at the fuse. Also get a spare piece of wire to reach from battery to plug at dash. Connect this line to the negative terminal. Check for twelve volts between this wire and the positive side of the plug. This will let you know if the issue is on the ground wire or the positive wire. Mice are known to chew the rubber off the were in the winter
  2. Make sure your positive and negative wires are on the correct terminals, also look for an inline fuse. The fuse could be blown or the connection corroded. Good luck.
  3. I agree with the above. Fairhaven is a short distance to deep water. Mexico Bay is a long distance to deep water. I would opt for Fairhaven. Also there is a tournament on the Little Salmon River in Mexico Bay this weekend.

  6. Great job. I fish a small tournament with my father and son. I completely understand the memories. Keep enjoying those times. They all grow up so quickly.
  7. Thanks for the report. Glad to hear you found them. Will be up this weekend myself. Again thank you.
  8. I find the loop knot very easy and quick.
  9. I have hit bottom with the standard dipsy in 110 feet of water trolling strait with 300 feet of wire out.
  10. Not this year, but two years ago. Had my daughter and boyfriend up. They both had never been. Hooked up and handed the rod to the boyfriend (his turn). I thought I felt a fish, but constant drag came off so I figured we were stuck on bottom. Had my daughter turn the boat around and I cleared rods. My spools have about 1000 feet of line on them and it was almost gone. Was able to accomplish the turn and gain line. Turns out it was a fish and after several more minutes we boated a thirty pound king. The year before that we had a similar story with my dad on the reel for a fish of the same size. I have seen this kind of line pull three times. All fish have been right at that thirty pound weight class.
  11. Good luck today guys. I will keep looking to see how you all are doing. Coming up in a couple weeks for the little salmon river challenge. Hope to see some more kings caught.
  12. I use the noodle as well, but I use mono not floro.
  13. 2 to 8 feet depending on what the fish want.
  14. If you were to stack you would be retricting yourself on other presentations you can try. I would put a fixed cheater on the riggers giving you the same presentation as stacki g but with one rod less. Then you can use that extra rod for another dipsy, copper, leadcore, or a thumper rig. Ps. Extra rod holders are always a good thing. Good luck and tight lines.
  15. Just let the hook stay loose. I do not attach the hook on real bait either. Attaching might effect the action of the bait. I have not had any issues with hook ups at all. Good lick and tight lines.
  16. Sorry, followed suit with the this Saturday. Werner, Popeye is a great guy and nice comfortable boat if it should be a little nasty. The Kings have not shown up in numbers yet but when they do they usually come from the west. There for he should have numbers first before the bay.
  17. Steve, where are you located?
  18. Popeye in Fair Haven. Like stated above, four day notice is short for a full day but you never know till you call.
  19. Yes it is easy to do. I just used a blue silicone "make a gasket" sealer. Below is a link to Fish 307 parts list. Find what you have for a rigger and look up the part. The switch you need should be around $22. http://www.fish307.com/cannon-electric-downrigger-parts/
  20. I had water get into one of mine once, rotted the switch out. Mine would go only in one direction (up or down, can not remember which one). Replaced switch and resealed cover and I was set.
  21. Sounds like a bad switch or water intrusion. I think the closest authorized repair center is Screwy Louis in Fair Haven.
  22. Herring flavor is all I have used. I also have a bottle of salmon feast but have not tried it yet. I believe it is smelly jelly
  23. When you mup lures on riggers they are placed five feet apart. Used to do that all the time when I only had two riggers.
