  1. Will it work , yes. Just not as well as a real rigger rod. The dipsie rod is to stiff to load up the line from the release to the rod. Thats why they make the differant rods ,Stiffer action for the hard pulling dipsies and the more limber rods to load up off the riggers.
  2. Thanks to all who gave so much!!!! God Bless America!!!!
  3. BUY A VOLVO So what was that, the boat version of buy a fishhawk ???? No TIM you just have to know how to choke your chicken!!
  4. Nice report , Thanks for posting. Hope to get up there this week.
  5. Must have been Ray sitting in the chair taking the picture . Who else would wear a Mohair sweater under a short sleeve shirt!!!
  6. If you get a fish on the lower rod you need to release the stacked rod to reset.. If its on the stacker you only need to bring it up to the stacker release. Your rod placement sounds ok. The lead from the ball can any lengh the stacker lengh I wouldn't streach it back to far. Hope this helps. I am sure others have different ways they do it. I haven't done it in awhile.
  7. Ok here goes , set the first rod and drop weight 10'. Hook the stacker release on the cable and hook on the second rod. Drop it all down to the depth where the fish are!!! I put the deepest rod toward the center of the boat and the stacked rod toward the outside. You can run a slider on the stacked rod too. A fish on the deeper rod should clear the other rod (note SHOULD!!) A fish on the stacked rod is free and clear anyway.
  8. 30# wire slices up the fleas pretty good when they hit the roller tip
  9. #1 for us. I have mags and the smaller ones, but the #1 I know where to set them and where they run.
  10. Your paint shop maybe, just saying
  11. You guys should try the 7' rods, alot more fun than those big cranes.
  12. Than my best spoons will be right next to the cutbait that I forget to take too!!!!
  13. With the huge leads of mono the streach in the line will effect the hook ups you get.. Flashers and flies I don't run back much farther than 25 to 30 off the ball . Most of the time its more like 10 to 15' The same with spoons. If I want one in another area code I use the copper or the leadcore. Dipsies and wire line are super way to run flashers and flies!! Have fun
  14. 1000' fits a diawa lc4c size reel nicely. There are a bunch of these threads about this , do a search
  15. You don't want the release hooked to the back of the weight , but to the cable just above the weight . Like a blacks or chamberlin or others. That way the weight is free to turn and track and not be steered by the rod pulling on its tail.
  16. Maybe the fins are bent? Swap sides with the balls. Check the way the run and tweek the fins to make them run right.
  17. also I got some great advise on here... during our steelhead double we ended up making a mess out of one of the lines with a fish on and I had to make the decision to cut it away and in the process found out the line with the fish was tied up also and got cut so fish gone! I had just read on here the day before that fish that make longer run and break people off end up floating for a little bit so I kept my eye open off the back and we saw him floating with our flasher and fly!!! we made a quick turn and went back and got him in the net 3 feet down as he was struggling and had the flasher to try pulling with him!! Success! ROADKILL!!!!
  18. Use your gps speed over ground and the X-4 and the surface speed to tell if your in the currents. Off of 9 mi Pt they are a BI**H somedays.
  19. I don't fish up there , but I would head to the trench. The deep water canyon off the islands of Henderson.
  20. Yeah I hear Ontario calling with every north breeze Maybe this week
  21. He was running a 6" flasher with about a 3' lead to a small spoon. Trying differant colors . The white green dot flasher is painted with a glitter glow , The Kings will clobber it up on Ontario!! The yellow green dot looked super too. He puts a super paint job on the spoons. The new Superlite series looked awsome, esp the black glow green. Were you out? The launch at Myres was crowded.
