I made it over to the NK sale today. What a deal on spoons. The spoons w/o hooks were $1.50 and the spoons w/ hooks were $1.75. They had every size spoon out. I baught 4d's, 28's, mags, and M-80's. They also had a bunch of overstock tapes. I ended up buying 44 new spoons. There were 2 guys there that drove all the way from Ottawa Canada for the sale. I highly recommend getting there A.S.A.P.

You might want to put hooks on that flasher. Kings have been caught on NK M80's and they are bigger than that flasher.

The population is down. It is from the stocking problems and fishing pressure. The waters off of Rochester used to be covered with schools of lakers. Now you have to work to find them. If you put in your time and know locations that have held good numbers in the past, you can find them.

I think mine are 36". The Hammerhead blades,and the Northern King blades come ready to fish.

Wire is a great way to catch fish. If you are getting into it I would recommend the Precision Trollers Big Water Edition. It has charts that tell you how deep your dipsys are running. The rod will not come out of the rod holder as long as you have a good rod holder. I use the Big John Rod holders (there are many other good brands, just make sure they are very sturdy). As for rigs, I love running flashers and flies behind my dipsys all season. I do run spoons from time to time. I find Mag spoons are better to run off of wire dipsys due to running heavier leader because I don't use a snubber. Also make sure you are using a reel with a good drag. Tekotas and Diawa SG47LC's are good reels. For wire, I use the Malin 7 strand 30 lb. wire. Good luck and have fun watching your kids eyes light up when that first king is ripping wire off of your reel.

Just Purchased 2 new SG47LC's so I'm getting rid of 2 Accudepths. $30.00 each 2- 8'6" Diawa Heartland rods rigged with a twillie tip. Use them for small wire dipsy rods. Never used them so I'm going to sell them. $10.00 each 1- Gander Mountain Guide Series 10' dipsy rod w/ twillie tip. I used this rod for a thumper rod. I'm selling it because I rarely used it and I think it is a little light for a dipsy rod. $10.00 Local Delivery or pick up only. Will only take cash or money order.

For my spring brown rods, I use 12 lb. Maxima for the main line to a 10 lb. Seagar leader. I have been using the Maxima for years and love it.

Nice Sturgeon Billy. What was the weight on the biggest one?

I'm going with Olcott. I think the winner will be around 26.5. The winning laker will be 21lb, steelhead 16 lbs, and brown around 14 lbs. We will see how this pans out.

Steve, Do you have a sneak peak at the line from Northern King for 2007? I'm ready to buy some new spoons and have not seen anything in stores or on thier website.

For lakers, troll cowbells and peanuts along the bottom at 1.1 -1.7 mph (at the ball). Have the ball so it bumps the bottom every once and a while. My favorite colors are blue glow, green glow, and blue and silver.

Troll large jointed rapalas along the drop offs. You can also cast spoons, musky killers and typical pike baits and do well.

A condom. 2 years ago, we hooked a clump of weeds on a cheater. When I cleared the weeds, a used condom was hanging there.
