  1. Would really like to Jim. I switched companys a few years ago and I can't get the time off to fish the tournaments. My vacation time and weekends are spent working on the Charter business which is doing well but I have to keep the clients happy. I really miss the competition. Hopefully in the future.
  2. Nice job Jim. keep up the good work
  3. You are correct. The blow boats have the right of way. Period.
  4. Call Hank. L&M from this board. He will take good care of you.
  5. Don't know fishy but I can testify that Jim Martino is a straight up guy and a friend of the fishermen. I been running his spoons for a long time and they produce both on the Finger Lakes and Ontario. I wail on the Browns with some of his old Honey Bees. About 10 years ago I was prefishing for the Oswego Proam and started hammering fish on a particular natural bait fish pattern. I had two of these spoons in the boat and broke one off on a big fish. I called Jim and told him my situation with the tournament in two days and only one spoon in the boat. Jim went out of his way to overnight me a dozen spoons to the camp ground and he was happy to do it. Didn't win that particular proam but we took third and didn't miss the win by much. I'm glad to see your getting things going again Jim and I will be in touch as my stock is dwindling. Capt. Glen Gervais
  6. Simple why some guys are struggling. There are not many fish in the Bay and they didn't get lucky enough to find the small area that held some.
  7. Interesting how a "popular fly" could become popular with issues like this. Good luck with your problems.
  8. Strange. I have not experienced this phenomenon. Nicks or frays in the leader would cause this unless the fly is retied with a new leader before it goes back in the water. Poor quality leader material might also be the reason. When the fish want a slow moving presentation you will notice the difference in catch rate using the stiffer leader material.
  9. I use fluorocarbon leader material in 50 lb test. You want a stiff leader to the fly as it will give the fly a good snap off the action of the attractor.
  10. Hope everything goes good for you Split.
  11. Steelhead. Normal as in slightly orange and opaque. And loose. Like she was ready to drop them in the lake.
  12. We took one about 3 weeks ago out of the lake that was full of eggs. Normal looking eggs.
  13. I have both sub troll and the fish hawk X4D on the boat. They both do the job and the display is all about personal choice. Sub troll transmits the signal through a coated cable while the fish hawk requires a transom mount transducer to receive the signal. Again all about personal choice. Another transducer with holes in the boat or maintenance of the coated cable. Your question was what unit was the best bang for the buck? I would say the sub troll.
  14. These changes were implemented without any feedback from the majority of the am fishermen Paul. Every rule change pissed of a few more guys while we watched the pro division remain untouched. If rules were changed to satisfy a couple boats it should not have been done and the entry level was on a slow but steady decline over the coarse of 3 or 4 years. Open communication was the last nail in the coffin.
  15. Thats laughable. After fishing the proams in the amatuer division for quite a few years the major complaint I and alot of the other regulars had was you guys changing the freakin rules every year. Fixing things that weren't broken while the pro division remained untouched. It was "fixed" to the point that nobody fished it anymore when prior to the the "fixing" the am division had a good turnout. Baffling to me why nobody could see this happening.
  16. Find a friend with one and swap them out one at a time.
  17. I put about 175 ft of 40 lb Ande as a backing on my Tekotas, with 1000 ft of 30 lb Malin wire and it filled the spool nicely. I like a full reel as the line counters are much more accurate. Never been down to the backing yet on a fish. Good luck. Glen
  18. Here you go. Two good ones, check them out. Good luck. riptidecharters.com hairballcharters.com
  19. When are you going? I'll contact some friends from the area and get back to you.
  20. A quality 15 lb test will handle big KIngs if: 1 You have good drags 2. There are no fleas 3 You are not combat fishing Kinda sounds like Heaven don't it?
