  1. 9" from the front to the knot 14 " from the back to the knot according to Big John. You drill your holes 3/4 of an inch from center to center lower on the board (towards the bottom) straight down from the originals. Sean this is for the tow line holes They will pull like hell. Glen
  2. Can't help you with those launches but Mexico is open about 4 miles away incase their not. Glen
  3. Stick with your Cannon terminators. They don't cause any spots that create week spots in the cable to fail. Can't get a much stronger connection as I've been running them for probably 10 years and never had one fail. On my probe rigger I use thimble and crimps to insure a good contact but check it often for signs of ware. Seems like I always end up trimming and reconnecting because of frayed coating before I ever have problems around the crimps. I don't know what kind of releases you plan on using but I use Scotty pinch pads off Atomic Torpedo weights and this system works good for me. Might be completey different if your going to use inline releases. Glen
  4. You will need backing on a Convector 30 to fill the spool to that 1/8 mark. I like to fill my reels to that mark so I use backing. Problem being it's been so long since I put wire on an Okuma I don't remeber how much you'll need. Come to think about it I don't even remeber if it was 30 lb or 20 lb wire I put on there. You can always put your wire on one reel, then the backing to fill her up, then transfere the whole thing from one reel to another. Keep track of how much backing goes onto the 2nd reel before you hit the wire and you'll be good to go for any future reels you do. Glen
  5. In my opinion the end of April beggining of May you will be better off at the Bar. The Oak is an outstanding port also but usually the Niagara area is better that early in the season. Glen
  6. How much water were you over when you hit the Atlantic? Thanks Glen
  7. KOA in Youngstown. Have cabins or trailer rentals. Not cheap but not to bad either. Boat launch is about 10 minutes away at the state park. Glen
  8. Nick you either got BIG hands or SMALL fish. LOL I can see I don't have to teach you guys on how to make the fish look nice in the pictures. Actually, despite the lack of fish you guys did well out there with 100% hook to land ratio on those Browns. Pleasure to have you guys onboard and I think we will be all set by tournament time. Got to apologize to bottom feeder. Didn't mean to highjack your post. Nice job in tough conditions Todd. It will get better soon. Glen
  9. Very nice. Hopeing to put a dent in them this weekend. Glen
  10. Yes we had a discussion on the rubber band thing Hank.... They work good if your on the highway and you got to piss. Other than that I just don't see a use for them on my boat. Clarke the surface temps were 38 to 42. That NW wind had a bit of a bite to it but beautiful weather for this time of year. Not sure but I might of had a couple tender foots onboard. Crystal clear water everywhere we fished with bottom visable to 20 fow. Glen
  11. Got the boat in the water and after Hank, L&M, replaced the seals on my prop shaft she ran just as happy as could be. Thanks again Hank... It was worth pulling the boat out to Port Bay to get it done. Hanks not only a good guy but he really knows his business. On Saturday we fished for about 6 hours. Really tough conditions for Browns with crystal clear water and very little bait in the Bay. We managed 9 bites with 6 in the boat but really had to work for um. 50/50 spoons and sticks. Numbers were below average but the quaility was nice for early season fish. Had Richard Bullen from the board and his brother working the rods. Couple good guys to fish with and we had a good time with some good laughs inbetween bites. Capt. Randy from Hit or Miss charters was along to keep an eye on us. Also demonstrated his picture taking ability and gave us the finer points of rubber band releases. LOL See ya soon Randy. Sunday was a short morning trip and I decided to go the opposite direction to see if I could locate the numbers and it just didn't happen. Two fish for our efforts Sunday morning both off the sticks. Heres a picture of a few Browns from Sat. Back at um next weekend. Richard and his brother. Richard with a nice fish. Glen
  12. Thanks for staightening that one out Hank. I was getting a headache. Glen
  13. All the water I've covered, I can't say I've ever seen a rubber band in there. Just about everything else but NO RUBBER BANDS. To each their own I guess. Glen
  14. Can't explain it, don't know how or why. All I can tell you is what I've seen after marking and catching many hundreds of them with the same fishfinder. Many of the largest deep water Salmon I've caught appeared to be nothing more than a small more roundish than arch shape with a red spot in the center. At 40 or 50 feet a stationary mature fish would be a larger arc with a red spot in the center. And I'm not complaining one bit. On the 200 side of the screen these fish usually appear smaller than on the 50 side. Again don't have a clue as to why just the way it is. Glen
  15. It's legal only if your rod man loses to many fish. Glen
  16. Based on alot of hours watching my screen, a mature King 100 ft down will appear as a smaller arch than a mature King 40 ft down. I run a Furuno 582 with thru hull transducer in manual mode. If memory serves me I had the same condition on my old Lowrance. Can't comment with any other brand. Also I beleive the location of the fish in the cone angle might have something to do with the arch size and shape. IE fish directly under the boat compared to a fish on the outside edge of the cone angle. Glen
  17. No, you don't want to run copper or wire on 27's. Like Jax posted, not enough line capacity. Even running mono for LO Kings on 27's is shaky at best. Glen
  18. Ater fishing with both setups, I prefer the roller rods hands down. Do you need a roller rod? No. But you don't need a Mercedes either when a Pinto will get you to the same place. Shimano makes a good rod available with the rotating tip roller. I have known guys who owned them and they all went back to the stationary tips. Something about the tips rotating a full turn and.... well give it some thought. My Shimanos were about $119.00, stationary tips. Glen
