  1. That’s what the charter captains and veterans from Henderson call “ the wall”. It’s been called that for years Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Maybe you mean “ the wall”. It’s in the shipping lanes between Gallo Is. and main Duck Is. long run. You can find it on your gps if you pan out there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. You were very nice. Long lines have no place in traffic. If they lose a few rigs they will get the picture Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. And I always add 1 ft to wave predictions if they are calling for 1-3. You can bet on 2-4. Would like a dollar for every time I’ve seen the forecast and gotten to the lake to find a maelstrom. Oh well. Go to breakfast. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. You can adjust that off set on your sonar I’ve never bothered that 18 inches would actually help you in shallow water I meant don’t look at your sonar , if it is tracking your cannonballs , and think that , for instance it shows your cb’s at 100 ft. , That is their actual depth. It’s not. It is showing an object 100 ‘ from the ducer Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  7. And always add 1 foot to wave height forecast. If it says 1-3. It will undoubtedly be 2-4 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. I was trying to copy the chart I can’t get it to paste. Go to Lake Michigan angler -Determining down rigger depth while trolling -they have a chart and formula. It’s an eye opener And don’t make the rookie mistake of thinking your sonar (Distance finder) is showing you the depth your bait and cannonballs are fishing. It’s showing you how far your cannonballs are from the transducer , not the actual depth
  9. There are charts available to show the actual depth achieved by measuring the angle of the rigger cable. There is also a formula you can use to figure it I feel your pain. Years ( too many ) ago I was in the same situation. 10 lb finned cannonballs. At times with speed and down currents the cable was 45°. I found that to reach 100 ft depth I had to let out 150 ft of cable. I finally bought a cannon speed n temp. That verified my findings. Many times I was having to let out almost half again the amount of cable to reach the wanted depth. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Some plastics don’t mix well. I’ve had plastic lures melt when in contact with other plastic I’ve used kingfisher II flashers for a long time and never had that problem. I would get a heat gun and carefully heat the warped ones and try to true them up Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. I have bought weights from Harvey in the past. Good product at a good price from a good guy Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  13. The charter boys are commercial, so they can legally use 18 Seems years ago it was cardinal coast guard and they would make a ship to shore call for you at an exorbitant fee. Cell phone probably took care of that Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. I see that. It’s commercial only. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. I hope you mean 16. It’s the law to monitor 16 for distress calls. I thought 18 was a ship to shore telephone service Costs big bucks to use Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. Depends on what port ur out of. Usually 68, 69 and 72 are the recreational channels. You are required by law to monitor 16 for distress calls Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. 8 ft for sure. The taller the antenna the greater the range. I use Shakespeare , but any quality 8 ft should foot the bill. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Bring your sea sick pills. Check weather forecast Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. Lmao. I was 11 bravo too we had a little different take on enemy recognition. Kill em all and let God sort em out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Yikes. Putting those oil cans on your carpet is a bad idea. The slime will ruin it in a hurry Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Well I answered my own question. Went straight out to the lanes on Saturday. Little late start. Left the dock at 6 AM. Mostly blank screen , few hooks , few small bait balls. No takers. I don’t fish for LT , but there are days when you can’t keep them off your baits They didn’t even want to play. Threw everything at them. Spoons , FF , cut bait riggers set derp and shallow. Dipseys at 150 and 250. No dice. My probe had a connection problem , so no temp , depth or speed info Was going to fish the marks but there weren’t any. Lol. First skunk in a long time Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Went out to the shipping lanes this AM. Same result as you. Blank screen for the most part got out to 200 fow. Marked a few small bait pods very few fish marks. Parked riggers deep and shallow ( 20-30 ft) dipseys out 150 and 250 quit at noon. Never moved a rod. Threw everything at them. Spoons , FF , cut bait. No one home. Very rarely do I see a constantly empty screen oh well. July is coming. The June doldrums are upon us Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. Thanks for your input. Sitting here right now waiting to go for my first PT session. Doc took X-rays and gave me a cortisone shot in the shoulder it has helped but rom is still limited. Pain is there but doable. Going fishing Sat. Hope with someone. If not solo. Lost my regular partner last year. Miss him Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
